I didn't follow the Adanna Rollins exit but didn't scholarship opportunity play a role?? Murr is a senior. Is her major leading to a grad school program that the UofM offers? Is she angling for a 1 year scholarship for her covid year knowing tOSU scholarship will not be extended? Otherwise why would the DPOY leave an up and coming elite program?
Conjecture like this I find bothersome and here I am conjecturing. It's endemic. Just wanting more signal & less noise.
What are the rules of the road re. contacting student athletes either are or aren't in the transfer portal? I am not going to scour the portal. "Jus' the facts ma'am just the facts"-- Joe Friday

Looks like KCook already met the team yesterday (Monday) based on this article by VolleyballMag. Some notable quotes about players: “I had about an hour with them and I think what struck me is that when you’re watching them on film, you’re seeing them in a certain light, and then when you’re in a room with them you have the lightness and the fun and the enthusiasm comes across a lot different. “These are some quality young people and they’ve got room to grow and that really excites me, that I’m going to have a chance to affect them for a number of years.” Notable quotes about coaching staff and Hugh: "Cook said his staff was a work in progress. He said he texted with McCutcheon and “I’m looking forward to a longer conversation. That’s another piece that I think is a big deal. Who would not want to spend time with Hugh and have that person in house? At Washington, we had Chris Peterson, who was a great mentor for me the last couple of years. “Hugh’s going to be there working with coaches and I’m not a finished product yet,” Cook said with a smile, “and I’m still looking forward to learning and growing.” volleyballmag.com/minnesota-volleyball-keegan-cook-121322/

Congratulations to CC for becoming a Gopher all time great. Outstanding player with exemplary character. She was unfairly dogged on by this board but look at her go.
From Final Liberos Rule the World thread: Passing Grade - Good Pass% - SR attempt# - Pass attempts/set - Defensive touch % - Dig % - Good Dig %(leads to transition) McGraw: 2.22 / 60.3 GP% / 385 attempts / 3.85 / 25.2 TP% / 76.1 DP% / 57.6 GD%
Going forward, with Murr and Gomillion in the portal (solely throwing in Bays due to the Cook hire, I know of no such tea): Murr: 2.08 / 48.8 GP% / 377 attempts / 3.81 / 29.6 TP% / 81.7 DP% / 63.4 GD% Gomillion: 2.10 / 48.5 GP% / 332 attempts / 2.81 / 28.7 TP% / 81.2 DP% / 63.8 GD% Bays: 2.17 / 56.0 GP% / 509 attempts / 4.94/ 23.6 TP% / 74.2 DP% / 59.5 GD%

I feel it gives Coach Cook a big advantage to taking over a program without the ability to pick the outgoing head coaches brain.

Absolutely, while some folks said that could be a deal-breaker for some coaches having Hugh around, it seems like Coach Cook really values that and that could be one of the draws for him to come to MN.

Anyone going to watch the UA game? I don't think it's available to me. Schnichels and Minatee are on team Speed (with Chicoine and Blyashov), but Phantom is stacked.

How many scholarships do the gopher have next year? I think a good investment for two of the scholarships would be picking up Murr and Gomillion!

Two if Wenaas is leaving. How many outgoing seniors/incoming freshman are there? Kilkelly, Gros, CC, Mir Wuch, Husemann - incoming freshman? Minatee and Schnichels? So wouldn’t that leave at least three, four if Wenaas transfers? Or were some of those seniors not on full scholarships? The process has always been confusing to me.

If 3, so that leaves only one left for Choboy.

I would love to see Wenaas in a DS position next year and have her kill from the backrow! What? Lol She was already playing 6ro as a RS and did attack from the backrow (sometimes)… if she stays, it definitely won’t be to play DS haha
