Congrats to Texas! They are too strong and too big. Great showing for ACC. We are on the map. Hopefully Tarheels learned a few lessons this season and will play a role next season not just in ACC but also on the National stage.

Some speculation in the Minnesota Golden Gophers 2023 thread that I wanted to share: After Jenna Wenaas and Carter Booth chose to enter the transfer portal following a coaching change, someone stated that they had heard "that a Minnesota setter is also considering transferring." While Minnesota has three setters on the roster, McGhie already transferred (in from Kansas). In any case, there was no clarification about whether it was Ng or Melani Shaffmaster, but some concern that it was Shaffmaster. I, trying to give the Gopher faithful some hope, suggested that, at least from the outside, Shaff seemed very close to her setting coach. Matt Houk (former MN Associate Head Coach and Setting Coach) has some connection to Sagula. I mentioned that Sagula's contract was up after next year and wondered if maybe Houk would come (without a job available for his wife who also was a Tech Coordinator and Assistant Coach at MN) if maybe their was a succession plan in mind. That was met with a response that maybe Melani would take her 5th year with her sister (and 3-year MN setting coach) at UNC, like Miranda Wucherer (Northern Kentucky alumn) did with her sister, Mckenna, at MN for the 2022 season. There might not be any traction to any of this, but just wanted to pass it along to this mostly quiet thread.

This is what I like about robot posters. They are very thorough.

Am I just missing it or have we still not posted our AC position?

Am I just missing it or have we still not posted our AC position? Unless it was put up and taken down already, which I think would have had to have happened mid-season since I’ve been regularly checking for job postings since the last week of the season, it hasn’t gone up. Miami, who also had a mid-season AC departure, just posted their’s the 30th. I have two questions to pose. 1) Is North Carolina just waiting for the new year? That would seem a little odd since all is fairly quiet on the football front, unless they’re trying to name an Associate Head Coach that they want to take over next year when Sagula’s contract extension is up/he retires. 2) There was a claim from a “fairly reliable source” that a P5 HC search is underway but hasn’t been announced yet. I know there has been questions about the admin investment, but would the AD handle business that way?

I didn’t see anything during the season that is for sure. The only way I see No. 2 happening is if Joe retired and he asked to wait. I think Bubba is very respectful to coaches about their retirements it seems. However, I don’t think Joe wants to retire so I don’t see the second option being realistic… unless something changed after his end of year meetings. I’m not sure of how it works but is it possible someone has to be employed for a portion of a new year to be eligible for something additional for retirement? It would be odd… but you always hear about people being “a month away from xxx” when it comes to retirement.
Did your reliable source say UNC was undergoing a HC search? Or there is one out there that nobody knows where and it could be UNC? Regardless, I hope we have a coach soon into the spring semester so our spring isn’t wasted.

I'm not sure what he requirements are, but if he was 22 when he graduated college, he's 66 now, which I'd think is old enough. And they did not say it was UNC specifically, just a P5 HC, and I wondered if that could at all be the reason there wasn't an AC hired. I'm not sure who Sagula would have in mind but there is going to be a lot of AC movements across the board, with a lot of the new P5 HC hires creating AC vacancies and many of the new P5 HCs not having hired their staffs yet. Will be interesting to see who he can bring in if he has to make the hire with only being able to guarantee that he has one more year at UNC (what is left on his post-2018 extension).

Having trouble finding any video/stat on Skyy. She seemed to play some matches and sit some. Did UNC had 3 pretty equal middles who rotated with each other? Would love any thoughts on her? Team player? I am hoping she can fill a need in middle for Colorado.

No, but one of them had a daddy that rumor has it was too involved and Joe gave in.

I think they were #2 in the pac 12 behind Stanford last year. I appreciate your reply.
