I've seen USD's volleyball team in person 8 times this year. Boy, they are very tall and athletic. I'm torn between this game. I'm a HUGE Stanford fan since 1981 and a USD fan since 1987. May the best team win!!! it's either ALL RIGHT NOW or OLE OLE OLE

It sucks that one of these teams can’t make it to the Final Four but I hope that whoever wins this game goes all the way to the championship game!

Hot take: At the starts of matches, sometimes Stanford players seem like they think they're back in Newport Beach, or Brentwood, or La Jolla, or whatever rich Indianapolis suburb Baird is from, and life is just so nice and pleasant and aren't we all just friends having a good time in the sun... It's like it takes them a minute to realize that, no no no, they're in a fight to the (theorthetical) death. I think Tara Vanderveer has referred to it as the "nice girls from Stanford" syndrome, w/ respect to basketball, but I think it applies here, too. Anyway, I know they were watching SD eat Kentucky for dinner last night, so I hope they were paying attention. And I hope the country club crowd brings a little more rock n roll. Because SD will not be taking prisoners. well to be fair, it’s not like the Toreros were forged in the furnaces of Pittsburg. Most of the parents I was around seemed like they were living there own Bravo show..

San Diego has not faced a team that can match their physicality and height this season. So this will be an interesting match - Stanford will be able to compete with SD’s physicality and block. The winner will be decided on who wins the serve-passing game.
Baird is Stanford’s X factor in this match. If she ends up hitting atleast >0.250 with at least 15 kills, Stanford will compete.
Edwards will be the same for San Diego. If she continues to perform like she did in Kentucky, San Diego is going to be difficult to stop.
So excited for this match. Hoping the Cardinal takes this and goes to their first Final 4 in 3 years. Go Card! 🌲

Long artcile about USD accomplishment but not once mentioned about the historical record between USD vs. Stanford (or did I miss it?)...did they ever beat Stanford? If so, the most recent was which year?

This is a toss up. Neither teams knows how to lose. Stanford players are tournament experienced. San Diego have nothing to lose. I give Stanford the edge, but happy for either to advance.

I am want San Diego to win. It would be great for the WCC and college volleyball. Morocco beat blueblood Portugal. San Diego can beat blueblood Stanford.

Stanford players are tournament experienced. Are they? Isn’t Kipp the only current one that saw the court in 2019? And they’ve only reached the second round since then.

Literally best of the best from each conference going at it. This is a Final Four-like match if you ask me.
