It will be interesting to see which OH Elliot matches up with Londot I’d imagine Madi for a better block right? I thought so too, but then I checked the stats. Logan has 53 blocks this season, Madi has 41. And Logan's had one more block than Madi since the tournament started. JE seems data driven, so....?

I wish there was a better stat for blocking proficiency than errors and blocks. Touches aren't counted. Tools off of a block aren't counted. It's simply did you score a point for your team or commit a net/antenna violation and score a point for the other team. That's no way to measure blocking skills, really. But it's what we've got, so what are you gonna do?

Texas in 4. Ohio States variance is to all over the place but they go as far as Londot goes. I think their highest high still loses to Texas’s highest high. Mid Texas beats mid Ohio State. But bad Texas can lose to good Ohio State.
I just don’t anticipate Ohio State putting together a huge performance. I have watched a lot of both teams. The first match ups Rader wasn’t as big a factor they need more of her to stay in it. Never say never but I don’t think Logan and Texas will be denied.
If Ohio State wants to win I think they need to come out the gate swinging and getting good kills insert doubt so Texas can get tight. Sort of the way Kansas did for the first two sets or take the close ones and force a fifth.
Texas is better at every position in this match except maybe setter and then it maybe a wash. Of course great Londot is better than Phillips but she doesn’t always show up,
Just hoping for an entertaining match

I remember watching Gabby Gonzales in her prep years and thought her unconventional armswing was gonna limit her success in the NCAA, boy I was wrong. Think Ashley Wittman of Minnesota in the early 2010’s. Both fantastic players.
I’m calling tOSU in 5 sets.
Gonzales, Londot and Podraza off to Ohio State’s first final 4 in almost 30 years.

I’m obviously very biased here but I do believe that Ohio State has a much better shot than a lot of people are giving them.
I believe this team is a lot more comfortable in the underdog role than they are being the favorite or elite team and I think the last 4 regular season games after beating Nebraska demonstrated that.
They’re just used to this situation than they are being the bully. They know how good Texas is through first hand experience and know they’re playing with house money today and the pressure here is really on Texas. I’m expecting a very loose and scrappy Ohio State team that will put the pressure on a Texas team that knows they absolutely should and must win. Ohio State pulls the upset in 4 sets.

I’m expecting a very loose and scrappy Ohio State team that will put the pressure on a Texas team that knows they absolutely should and must win. Ohio State pulls the upset in 4 sets. For Ohio State to have their best chance to win, they have to win service points. That was their biggest issue in Columbus. They did a good job of preventing any big Texas runs, but they simply sided out too much. Most of those 6 set losses were just drip drip drip, with Texas scoring a service point here, a couple of points there, and OSU constantly one serve and out, until they're staring at 18-13 or whatever, getting sided out to 25. While OSU is an outstanding team, and I've thoroughly enjoyed watching them all season long, the thing that gives me the most pause is the confidence I felt in Texas last year versus Nebraska, and that didn't go so well. This year's team is much better in the back court than any other Texas team I've followed, but it doesn't mean they're perfect. Both Eggleston and Akana have been targeted in the passing patterns successfully. At times Texas is too left pin focused, although usually if they're in system that's not the case. I don't know. If Ohio State can't get Texas out of system with their serve, I don't see any way the Buckeyes are going to win, because I do feel highly confident Texas can get Ohio State out of system at least some of the time with their serve. That was Nebraska's key to victory last year, and it's OSU's key to a win this afternoon/evening.

Anyone who thinks this is a slam dunk for Texas isn't paying attention.
That said, Hook 'Em always!

Anyone who thinks this is a slam dunk for Texas isn't paying attention. That said, Hook 'Em always! According to the votes, 9 out of 70 do right now. That doesn't seem like a very high percentage.

I just remember that Kentucky-Texas thread for the national championship in spring of 2021, and how many people completely wrote off the Wildcats midway through the 2nd set.
