It seems like either the coaches or SKT are married to these faster lower outside no matter the situation, and that’s often effective but the Ohio block was there and I feel like Skinner was aching for some ceiling space because she can go over. So while I’m often quick to judge SKT I’m not sure it was all her. Same thing would often happen to Gabriel. Look what happens with Halter's moonball bump sets to Eggleston. There's a huge part of me that has always felt Texas handcuffs recruiting these ridiculous athletes by forcing the fast offense. Brionne Butler, come on down. But it is what it is. I completely agree with this. How often do we see sets to the outside that are too low for Logan or Madi to swing? I understand running a fast offense has its advantages but when you have some of the most athletic girls on the court that can jump over blocks and hit sharp angles why don’t you mix in some high balls and let them tee off? Madi struggled tonight, I didn’t see her final numbers but I can’t imagine they were too good. Hopefully that’s behind her and she comes out firing in Omaha. As nervous as I was during this match, Texas really dominated about 90% of it. Outside of that bad run to close the 2nd and one little mini run in the 4th to close the gap Texas really outplayed OSU and took care of business.

Who honestly thinks anyone beside TX will win it all? And if so, why? Guess an influenza outbreak could happen. Other than that, good luck to all the competitors. Texas is in a war here with Ohio State at home.... they are hardly a runaway force that nobody can touch. There isn’t one team left that is a run away that no one can touch. The question is who is best 3 of 5.

Substitute Micaya White and Skylar Fields for Skinner. The one thing I'll say is that it's easy to criticize from the sidelines. There are always unintended consequences. It's so tough to get that connection going in a fast offense in the first place. I could see where trying to throw in higher sets wouldn't be a big deal for us watching, but would be a nightmare to implement everything effectively. Thinking this way does nothing to lessen my frustration at times, though. It does lead to some form of acceptance, however.

Is Texas the only team in Division I Volleyball with all three paid coaches who are men? I think operations person is also a man. Jessica Brannan is a female assistant. Jordan Larson was going to be an assistant until she brought her husband over and he took the paid job and she went to a volunteer job (or maybe stepped away all together). The Texas sports psychologist who’s on the bench is a female as well. Curious why you mention this to begin with? Should every team have a female on the staff?

Call me crazy, but can’t you also just set a tempo ball a little higher for athletes with a higher hitting window? Fast doesn’t have to mean just above the tape and high balls don’t have to be loopy. I’m a big fan of tempo, but I’ve never told a setter to set lower just for the sake of setting lower. Full disclosure, I’m not a college coach so take this fwiw.

Hats off to Ohio St, as they have been all season just a mentally tough and scrappy team that goes down swinging and didn’t make it easy for anyone.

Ok I really don’t understand the Ewert sub… Mel came in and served fine yesterday and Asjia’s serve has been working well… Got back from the game, still skimming this thread. But my wife told me that JE kicked a chair leg in anger after Ewert's serve.

I'm going to assume Ewert got put in for her last game at the Greg No! Not at the risk of losing a set!
