No one is arguing that Grome isn't an All-American, an outstanding player, SEC Player of the Year, one of the best setters in the country, etc.
To deny she is a blocking liability, however, is just biased.

Their bias has a lot to do with it. OH is in their name and assuming they are from the Cincinnati area considering they cannot stop talking about how incredible Grome & Bultema are. (Both from cincy). No one is saying they aren’t, but it’s just dumb to not acknowledge flaws.
All I’m saying why would Skinner recruit the number 1 setter in the country in Sarafa if she just sits the bench for the next two years. She’s likely to play a role somehow eventually.

The best schools recruit the best players available. Do you think because they already have a great setter in the mix, they go into the next setter recruiting cycle saying they are just going to recruit a bum because they won't need them for 2 years? This is how programs are consistently great. Kennedi Orr has barely played at Nebraska. They didn't not recruit the best player because they already had Hames on roster. Kennedi was the #1 recruit in her class. Now, Bergen Reilly arrives and Kennedi might not play over her.
As a side note, Ava is also not the number 1 setter in this class. Bergen Reilly and Ella Swindle are both ahead of her. Grome and Safara were/are very similarly ranked in their respective classes. Probably in the 20-30 range overall.

That’s fair. All I’m saying Grome isn’t as untouchable in terms of getting beat out eventually as some posters think on here.
There were a few games last year where Grome was not good, (Nebraska, LSU) to name a few and if there are games this year where that happens I’d bet Sarafa gets a shot. Both are really elite setters in their own right, and I’m glad UK has both of them.
There were even times during the Lilley era where she was pulled for the backup setter when she was playing bad. I think last year had more to do with the talent behind Grome. UK will have the most talent and depth at the setter position this season more than any other season I can remember for them.

Having watched both setters I will say Sarafa is a very different setter than Grome. I have a feeling if Grome gets in a rut Sarafa will get the chance deservedly so. I also think the pin from Carolina coming in is going to be way better than any of the other pin recruits. Her ceiling is ridiculous.

Is that Jordan Dailey? Haven't heard/seen much from her. Really excited for her too.

She like wouldn’t hit off 2 feet even if she started on the right. She would come to the middle from the right just to do a slide approach lol. They moved her to the outside this year in club. I have watched her a lot and her improvement is insane. I also saw her at the Kentucky camp 2 years ago and Skinner said, you're a pin and boom pulled her from the middle in the rest of the sessions. She jumps out of the gym and the talent is there, she just needs the work now.

I’m literally so excited for this fall. We have so many options and so much depth. Watching this team in hitting lines would be wild.

I actually did just find a video of her hitting on the pin and yea the contact point is ridiculous. God we have so much hitting talent now. I just worry about our OOS hitting

Not even a Kentucky fan just coached 23's for years so I am excited to watch how they do at the next level ( and not have to game plan against them anymore). Kentucky should have a fun fall!

I do think Wilson, lamb and deleye will be the top 3 of the OH group which means they should have a strong option off the bench as well depending on which on them isn't starting

The goods news is we are all Kentucky fans and want the same results. While we might have a difference of opinions I am okay with that.
We could take any player on this team or other top teams and poke holes in their skills, abilities, etc.
If you think I am biased because I am from Ohio that's okay, I can live with that. From all of my years around volleyball and other sports I have come to learn other people will have different opinions.
At the same time folks thinking Skinner is going run to a 6-2 seems like a huge stretch. He has never run a 6-2 at UK and I see no reason he would start that now. It is awesome UK has some really good freshmen coming in for the 2023 season because in my opinion they need them. Madison Lilly was an absolute stud, but she was also surrounded by superior talent. I don't know that we will ever see another Madison Lilly at UK, but they have a really good Setter in Grome and if they can improve the talent around her I think Grome has the ability to elevate her game to another level.
I have seen Sarafa play several times and she is going to be really good. At the same time I do not think she can match Grome's foot speed and quickness. Having said that UK has great depth at the Setter position and as they say competition breeds excellence.

I thought last season our pins struggled to get the ball to the ground against the better teams. We can debate power and ability and I will admit I am not a big Rutherford fan. I can't explain it but also know she will be on the court so I am hopeful she will be a better version of herself this season. Do I think she should be a six rotation player? NO! I don't see it but I am just a fan and not the Coach. I trust Skinner will do what he thinks is best for the team.

Yes, we know you aren't a Rutherford fan.
You've made that very clear in the past.
