Not sure if this was posted yet or not, but looks like UK is headed to Colorado the first week of season. uncbears.com/sports/womens-volleyball/schedule/2023Looks like they will play Northern Colorado and Stanford. Unsure if they'll be a third game or not? Usually opening weekend has 3 games, but I only see 2 listed on UNC website. Stanford vs UK week 1 should be great!!! That seems like weird scheduling for a Stanford vs. Kentucky match. They both have to go to Greeley, Colorado and play a DAYTIME match? (Both Northern Colorado matches vs. those 2 teams are in the evening slot). I don't get the attraction in that.

I know it is Louisville turn to host UK but maybe they will be willing to switch it up for one season in an effort to be a part of some type of attendance record. Anything is possible. well the Louisville vs UK game will be held at the yum center so I think there will be an attendance record set, just not in Lexington lol

Not like stadium capacity was holding us back from attendance records, but I agree I definitely would like to see a marquee non-conference matchup or 2 at Rupp. No Stanford or Louisville. Nebraska isn't coming back 2 years in a row. I could maaaybe see Wisconsin coming back since we already played up there in 2021, but probably not. Texas joins the SEC in 2024, so I imagine they wouldn't come this year. Who's that leave? Penn State, Pitt, Minnesota, OSU, Purdue? Baylor? GT?

Wouldn't mind seeing OSU vs UK. I don't remember the last time these two programs have played, even though they aren't far apart. Skinner is great friends with Shondell so I could see Purdue again.
I think Wisconsin was a two year contract, so that is up. We should be @nebraska this year, which will be awesome. I agree though, it would be really cool to have a couple big time non-conf matchup in Rupp.
I'd imagine Skinner won't shy away from scheduling tough since he did last year and we return so many starters.

Would love to see Pittsburgh and a handful of the Big10 powerhouse programs on the schedule.

Our ‘22 class was pretty weak, but other than that the last 4-5 recruiting classes have been really strong. ‘24 with Benjamin and Thigpen is a nice duo as well.

Yeah the '22 class was a result of a full roster, and the fact all of the classes around it were so strong.
Nothing to do with poor recruiting.

Nothing to do with poor recruiting. we should be back on track to hopefully have a big year in 2025 barring any transfers and assuming the '20 class uses their covid years. that would be a veteran group

I think we'll be good this upcoming year but will likely be better in 2024 if everyone stays who has remaining eligibility. that would be a core group who'd been playing together for 4 years with Grome, Beavin, rebo, lamb, goetzinger, walker and then having the '23 freshman class as sophomores with a year of experience. haven't given up on 2023 at all but see a potentially brighter 2024 lol. felt the same way about Stanford all year in 2022

Was browsing UK athletics today and saw their 2023 schedule on their site. ukathletics.com/sports/wvball/schedule/season/2023/No Stanford the first weekend as originally rumored. Will be in Colorado weekend 1 playing Colorado St and Northern Colorado. Other Non-conf bigtime matchups include and home and away vs Pitt, @ Nebraska, and @louisville. Looks like playing in a Purdue type invitational where if both UK and Purdue win their Friday night matchup, they'll play each other Saturday. Love this idea! Also SEC is back to the original Fri-Sun conference format and won't be playing same team on back to back nights. Thoughts?
