Yeah, but if only the powers that be at Penn State had paid heed to the Big Minds on Volleytalk who knew Coach Katie just couldn't recruit. I’ll meet you right back here in a year or two when we dissect those big minds switching their tune to saying okay sure she can recruit transfers, but can she get her own Prep Recruits? I’ll save the date down the line when we have the conversation of whether or not she can develop a single player under the culture and system she’s building. Save the date, folks. I am definitely one of the ones who was disappointed we went for Schumacher-Cawley, sure. And I get what you're saying. But, there is a long way to go in this yet. One year does not prove much. Got to string together several successful seasons and get back to legitimately vying for titles to meet the Penn State standard.

And my main point throughout without being snarky about it is she’s already a step ahead of where most folks thought she’d be when the announcement was made. I look forward to seeing her continue to overperform expectations 🤞

I hope you are right. I like Zoe but a more consistent hitter/blocker could really elevate PSU. She was a great RS blocker for Clemson. I want to say that she started OH but quickly moved to RS and excelled there.

I must admit , I'm dissapointed to hear that she only touches 9'2. I hope that THE FACEBOOK got this wrong. That's probably not been updated in years. So I dropped the "THE" and was corrected she touches 11'2 (yes I knew this all along) Great get for the staff and NO PENN STATE WOMENS's VOLLEYBALL is NOT done with transfers. 'Middle' May springs flowers is my guess.

Having watched a couple of Clemson's 2022 home matches on video -- and having seen the low ceiling of the Tiger's home gym -- I'm surprised Clemson didn't make Camryn Hannah wear a helmet, for fear she would jump so high she'd crash her head into the ceiling Kidding. But this home match vs. South Carolina does have an example early on of the perils of that Clemson gym:

Lina Perugini (L/DS from Coastal Carolina) commits to Penn State!
A Pennsylvanian who spent her collegiate years down in South Carolina, Lina returns to PA for her 5th/final year of eligibility. While at Coastal Carolina, Lina was the starting libero and was 2x All-Sun Belt Conference (Second Team).

Got to string together several successful seasons and get back to legitimately vying for titles to meet the Penn State standard. At the risk of being tautological, one year can only prove what you can prove in one year. But, what a first year: 1) one of only two first-year female D1 head volleyball coaches ever to make the Sweet Sixteen (Heather Olmstead of BYU being the other -- if there are any others, please let me know -- not intentionally slighting anyone). 2) matched the 2022 NCAA Tournament performance of Nebraska Head Coach John Cook; 3) matched the 2022 NCAA Tournament performance of Minnesota Head Coach (now-retired) Hugh McCutcheon; and 4) ended with a 26-8 record and the #11 AVCA ranking (preseason ranking was #20). By any measure, Coach Katie exceeded expectations of The Big Brains. By alot. So, yes, it's not a one-year deal, where KSC can disappear into the sunset and rest on her laurels. But that's not her nature anyway. She is a fierce competitor, and, I would be willing to bet, is looking forward to the challenge of Year 2. I, for one, would not bet against her.

Does she have a chance to play? I don't know much about her I think she does have a chance to play. How much? Who knows -- but she'll definitely be in the mix for back row playing time. I wouldn't rule out any of the returnees, but Lina is not a "courtesy" invite. She is an accomplished player and determination personified. Her role model is her brother, who won a wrestling title in District 11 (Pennsylvania) while wrestling with a torn ACL.
