So... not ideal news re Hurta. Sounds like the coaching staff has locked in a setter from the portal, otherwise, it makes no sense for Hurta to leave now. It's definitely a loss for PSU, but I wish her the best.

does Sileisa have another year? Does the cancelled season in 2020 count in her eligbility? If not, then wouldn't she have another year?

It's definitely a loss for PSU, but I wish her the best. I feel like the setter talent in the portal isn't high. Podraza and then who? Maybe Buckley from Mizzou (announced going to TCU yesterday). I'm just not sure who it would be. Although a certain CSU-B setter wasn't highly touted in the portal last year and that turned out pretty well! Edit: Morningstar from Louisville is from Pennsylvania originally so maybe?

AD Pat Kraft has a clear vision where support for the athletes must be improved.

So does that mean she gets another year? No. Her 4th year would have been this year at PSU. So she doesn’t get a COVID year?

No. Her 4th year would have been this year at PSU. So she doesn’t get a COVID year? She was honored on senior night, so I'm almost certain this was her last year.

Unfortunately for schools that didn’t play that year, they just get to play the standard four, unlike the kids who could have played the spring season and four others.

Luke Snyder, a setter on the PSU Men's Team, mentioned on his Instagram today that his twin sister Ella (a former setter at Arizona State) is coming to Penn State next semester. Curious to see if she's coming for volleyball or just changing schools.

Curious to see if she's coming for volleyball or just changing schools. I'd think it was to play. She's in the portal, KSC and Toron are new IG followers since yesterday, and Hurta probably is leaving for a reason. She has two years (with a Covid) if she wants them.

She was honored on senior night, so I'm almost certain this was her last year. In the current environment, being honored on senior night has no real bearing on whether they can come back. Look at the football team; multiple guys honored on senior day in 2021 ultimately returned for 2022 taking advantage of their COVID years. Likely to be the same situation this year. That said, I am not 100% sure about her. She has used 4 years of eligibility in '18, '19, '21, and '22. I am not entirely clear how the COVID year would work with her because in most COVID-year cases the person either redshirted or played that year. She did neither. You could argue it was a default redshirt year for her, but she still has played 4 years. I *think* she might actually have a COVID year available. But hasn't she said she's done, anyway...? I could see that happening, but... kinda think that's a downgrade to someone who was so-so and started not even half the season on a bad ASU team.
