No other coaches seem to be interested in developing players anymore either. It has just turned into the major league draft. Maybe after the Covid extra year cycles through that will come to an end, but I don't see any difference between what is happening here with players in and out and other programs. Its all about winning, no one has the time and patience to develop players anymore...

Another dramatic weakness of the current Penn State coaching staff has been exposed. They’re inability to keep Gatorade players, or any freshman player, certainly dooms the program and the recruiting efforts of highschoolers. The ineptness to coach up high school students athletes creates a mistrust of playing for a program that relies on a short term Covid window players coached up by other programs. That’s two Gatorade players in a row they’ve lost simply because of the lack of devotion of time and energy to developing a freshman class. Does not look good for the future! Does not look good for recruiting!! Considering that two of the players who were developed/"coached up" and saw significantly more playing time than most upperclassmen this year were freshmen, your narrative that the new staff isn't devoting time and energy to freshmen is wrong. (And the other two freshmen this year, who didn't play much, were battling undisclosed injuries.) As for the GPOYs... The GPOY who's departing this year appears to be leaving because she's no longer planning to be a collegiate setter, and is looking for a team that has an opening for the position she wants to play. As for the GPOY who departed last year... Seeing that she transferred to a less successful team and was third in their depth, I'm assuming that she wouldn't have been ready to lead Penn State this year... thus, in hindsight, the staff displayed good roster management... rather than being blinded by a high school accolade.

I really hope the staff can pull and upset or two in the portal. I'm not that high on Synder and as unless Zoe and Anjelina make serious strides I do not like our OH2 and OPP possessions

There is no correlation between high school awards and what college player you’ll be.
PSU will be able to find several setters for next year, but I’m significantly more worried about our pin hitters. TTA will fix a lot of problems, but I’m sure she has her pick of where she wants to go. Hopefully KSC can work her magic!

I have a feeling that blue 🚨 will be lighting up soon.
Stay calm.
As far as kids moving on, it happens. If they don't want to be here or can't foresee a place in the lineup, or think a change bring more opportunity, sometimes it's best for everyone that they move on.
Best of luck

When does the current version of the B1G/PAC challenge end (Stanford, Oregon, Minnesota, PSU)?

Great to see they will be teammates! They did some great things together this season.

I thought Macy was in the portal? Or do you only count them out after they commit to another school?

I thought Macy was in the portal? Or do you only count them out after they commit to another school? Macy was reported as being in the Portal in the Spring, but my understanding is she is not in the Portal (she may never have been in the Portal). I think the Rich Kern site still has the report from the Spring listing her as being in the Portal. I think that listing is out of date.

Not going to lie… I’m extremely nervous about the roster next season. Doesn’t look like any major transfers are showing significant interest. Glaring issues at the pins. Who sets the ball? Hoping the staff can come out with some big wins in the portal

Hoping the staff can come out with some big wins in the portal There’s a lot of time. Only a couple big transfers have committed so far and I’m sure plenty more players will enter after spring semester. Realistically it was unlikely Wenaas and Beason would have decided to go to PSU, but there are still so many great players out there who might end up in Happy Valley. There’s always “sleeper” transfers like Kash and Elesaia were this past season. Personally, I think someone like Demps, Mruzik, or Hannah Lesiak could be a good get for PSU to play opposite Markley on the outside. TTA would be amazing but that might be a reach, not sure what she’s looking for in a school and a volleyball experience. Not many elite setter have entered the portal yet. There’s still plenty of time for players to enter, but besides Podraza who is probably also a reach, there’s Morningstar from Louisville who is a PA native but I have no idea her skill level and if she is starting setter material.
