when does the the big 12 release their conference awards? Only the SEC has released their's that I know of regarding the power conferences. Haven't seen anything from the PAC, B1G, or ACC. The more important question for me is when does the Texas social media team release their final snarky Big 12 conference trophy video.

Went back and saw the A&M/Bama game. It was hard to watch, some messy volleyball went down in Tuscaloosa that day.
The main takeaway I had was the difference in A&M’s demeanor. I’ve watched several of their matches earlier in the year and whether it be the losing streak or what, they seem to lack some confidence and aggression they were playing with in the first half or so of the season. However, I expect them to bring it against an in state foe in a higher stakes situation.
I thought it was strange they didn’t start two of their best players in Cos-Okpalla and Muoneke, instead going with more experienced but not as productive options in Brown and Guinn. Underwood (L) also was benched in favor of Hogan who started last year and at times this year. Don’t know if it was a senior night thing but not sure I get what Jamie was thinking with that, as they lost the first set 25-13 and let up a 9-0 run.
Muoneke came in quickly in S1, but Cos-Okpalla didn’t come in until getting a kill on set point in S2. Something else I noticed was the players and Jamie were visibly bothered by the refs on multiple calls with some of the players even shouting their displeasure to the ref. They’ll need to stay composed, and leave the Elliott-ing to their coach to beat Texas.
Anyways, their libero passed poorly, they hit way too many errors (Logan particularly struggled) and their OOS and secondary setting was a problem. Lopuyo is super tall but has no pace on her swings. However Muoneke was able to clean up some of the mess, and she had some amazing swings. She will be a major key for A&M.

A final note- when Jenna is swinging we need to COVER, COVER, COVER! Allowing her to be aggressive against their physical block can only happen if we can pick up some blocks.

Texas Volleyball's Logan Eggleston has been named one of nine finalists for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year award, the organization announced Monday. Eggleston is the Longhorns' first ever finalist for the prestigious award, which was first awarded in 1991. Former Texas Tech track and field student-athlete Ifeatu Okafor received the esteemed award in 2013 as the Big 12's past winner. The nine finalists consist of three student-athletes from each NCAA division. Each finalist was selected for her outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, community service and leadership Representing Division I, the finalists are Callie Dickinson, Georgia; Logan Eggleston, Texas; and Ellie Shahbo, Harvard. The finalists from Division II are Peyton Barnes, Fairmont State; Charlotte Richards, Missouri-St. Louis; and Madi Wulfekotter, Central Missouri. Division III finalists are Kristen Palmer, MIT; Sophia Glory Slovenski, Southern Maine; and Anika Washburn, Case Western Reserve. Of 619 student-athletes nominated for this award, 164 student-athletes were selected as conference-level nominees. That pool of student-athletes was narrowed to the national Top 30 honorees. On Jan. 11, the Top 30 honorees will be celebrated during a ceremony at the NCAA Convention in Phoenix. There, the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year will be named.

just got a memory from 7 years ago today where it was revealed our subregion was UTRGV, Texas A&M, and SMU. 7 years later, 2/3 teams are the same, UTRGV just replaced with Texas State.
that year, we made it to the national championship, including a sweep of Nebraska in the Final Four, before going down to Inky and the star studded freshmen class that Stanford had.
I’m not sure we can make it there again, but man, wouldn’t it be nice to avenge that loss against Stanford. not only in 2016, but from this season too. let’s go Horns!! take care of business early.
