I just think people have their head in the sand if they think Parra isn’t bound for other climes. She’s been an obvious candidate all year, which I have stated repeatedly regardless of opposition. Her recent social media follows are the kind people get when they’re transferring. She’s gone. We’re just waiting for a more official announcement. Yeah, this was inevitable tbh. confirmed now.

I wouldn't put my money on that. I would. Skylar Fields was in the portal at this time last year. So a 1st team AA left Texas last December. It’s not that a player of that caliber won’t leave this coming year. A player of that caliber has never left Texas. Even Lexi Sun never had the actual production Fields did. Jhenna Gabriel suddenly “retires” from volleyball, citing volleytalk as contributing to issues with her mental health. Cabello and Williams transfer out. Then you have losing the Hord sweepstakes. Winning the Skinner sweepstakes. Do we really think two players of that caliber are going to be in play this off season? We get Fleck, which was a nuclear bomb. We get Bergmark. Longtime assistant Tonya Johnson accents the LSU head coaching job. Then a couple of months later Jordan Freakin’ Larson, the most celebrated US women’s volleyball player in the world, declares her retirement and takes the open assistant position at Texas. Later that spring Iosia transfers, and Ewert and Akana come on. David Hunt leaves his head coaching job at Pepperdine to join the Texas staff as assistant, and Jordan moves to volunteer coach. Then Larson announces she’s playing for Monza on a pro contract. The Caffey drama plays out, including John Cook’s comments on both Akana and Caffey, throwing both of them under the bus in various ways. Caffey joins the team right before practice starts. I’m sure I’ve left stuff out and gotten the order wrong. But the gist of it is still there. I repeat, there is ZERO chance this offseason will have as much drama as last year. Zero! Edit - I did leave out an obvious one regarding Larson’s departure. I know what happened but you never know what dramatic this next year will be.

I’m praying it’s a low drama off season, I would be sad to see anyone else go.

It would have to be something catastrophic along the lines of what is going on in men’s basketball to equal last year, and I rebuke that wholly and completely. I’m not saying there won’t be drama, but there’s simply not the potential for it this year that existed last year. It was a perfect storm. Category 5. Fortunately a lot of good news along with the drama.

Sad to see Mel go but with the amount of talent that Texas has and upcoming. It's gonna be hard for her to be solid starter for Texas. She has tried for the last 3 years.
