I'm hoping Michigan will not end up being the last P5 team to sign a head coach. Looks like Michigan will be the last P5 to sign a head coach. They still can be among the fastest though. P5 (post-season) Openings:Michigan: 9 days P5s Filled:Oklahoma/Washington: 14 days UCLA*: 18 days (surely delayed by San Diego being in the F4 and ACs have been named) Missouri: 21 days Texas A&M/ASU: 25 days K State: 30 days Oregon State: 37 days I can't believe it's only been 9 days. It feels like six weeks. I made I semi-joke on the ASU hiring thread about Michigan not hiring a coach yet.

Plot twist: DBK goes to Michigan after having turned down OSU and Minnesota. Double plot twist: She stays there when Nebraska opens.

we could also have a kim mulkey (w-basketball) or a mike white (softball) kind of hire if Michigan is willing to put in the money both went from coaching top programs into rebuilding their new ones and have their teams moving in the right direction… I have absolutely no faith that that's what will happen at UM.

I don't think this is necessarily true. The job has only been open 9 days. That's still less time than every P5 that's hired, the shortest being Oklahoma and Washington at 14 days. The "process" started before the public announcement of the opening. Did it? Is that some sort of inside information or just speculation? While other places may have things in place beforehand, this coaching change came as a bit more of a surprise than some of those others. Not that we weren't all thinking it could happen, but that it had been speculated that an extension had been reached AND they waited over two weeks after the selection show to announce the change. I don't know who the next head coach is going to be. BUT I'd guess they're in a video interview portion of the process since the entire admin team is in Arizona for football.

They could be taking a page out of the Notre Dame book and bringing their top candidate to Arizona. But I doubt it

Who are the top female AC around the power 5? I’m seeing all these positions being filled by male candidates. Who’s missing out that Michigan should be looking at? To be fair, 3 of 7 P5 jobs have been filled by women so far--Missouri, Ole Miss, and Oregon State. Otherwise, Dildine (WI) has been mentioned in a few threads. Other B1G female ACs have had short tenures outside of Jewell at Purdue where the staff as been together just short of forever. Kelsay had 4 years at MSU and 3 years at NW when she left last year, but I'm not sure they'd consider her after she sat out this year. I don't think anybody had Jewell on their wish list, but if so, take her off

It's pretty reliable information from a source who does not post. He also has said that another power 5 head coach search is underway that has not been announced yet. So if/when that is confirmed soon i will have an even better indication of his reliability.

Totally spitballing here since we haven't heard much. Do we think Megan Pendergast might be considered? She's currently jobless and maybe she wants to head back to her alma mater, but some here think they might be after a females. She spent four years at Tulsa and four years at UCLA, where she recruited Fleck and élan McCall. She's from Texas, where she finished her career at A&M, and has spent four years recruiting and building connections in California.

Is somebody about to announce a new coach at the same time as a resignation or retirement is announced?

I don’t either, but she’d be more experienced than the names that came with the hint for who was being interviewed earlier in this thread. Who knows anymore? Hopefully an announcement is coming this week.

I even used Google and I’m still having a hard time figuring out who Megan Pendergast is. My bet is that Michigan cares just enough to go through the usual Roundtable (Miller-Phillips, Meske, Tomic, Dildine, etc) and pick one.

And, to be honest, she hasn't built many connections in SoCal, despite her time here. If she is the new HC at Michigan, I don't think that bodes well for their program.
