hey everyone!! I’m new on here but am an avid LSU volleyball fan. I’m excited to see Tonya Johnson already start to turn this program around and I think the future is very bright down in Baton Rouge.
I’m excited to see that our biggest offensive contributors in Dotson, Flickinger and Anwusi will be returning for their COVID year, as well as having one of the best libero’s in the SEC in Larkin.
We are also getting an incoming freshman stud in Jurnee Robinson, who just wrapped up playing in the UA All American game. I’m curious to see other’s perspectives on who will be filling in some other spots in the lineup, whether it be our own depth, or any other incoming freshman set to make an immediate impact.
Also interested to know any transfer tea that may be swirling around. I did see that Birdie Henderson from Florida toured, but ended up transferring to Pepperdine, as well as some potential interest with Jade Demps from Wisconsin, which would be a HUGE pickup.
Any and all insight is much appreciated! Geaux Tigers!

Apparently Demps is considering LSU. Add her to Dotson, Flickinger and Anwusi and the tigers got some SERIOUS fire power at the net. It’ll be interesting to see how that pans out !

yeah I was hoping for the same thing with Parra or Deandra Pierce with the UT connection, but it looks like both are planning on heading elsewhere.

Jurnee is a stud. I watched the AU game. She was in my top 3 players that stood out.

I think it’s great TJ is luring the interest of transfer players to visit LSU and time will tell if she is able to reel them in. Transfers aside, it seems TJ is also getting the high school commits she wants and getting them early. Time will tell if this all translates into more wins. I do think there may be some personnel obstacles she has to maneuver before next year and not yet as obvious.
The team did make the tournament this year and had a slightly better record, but I feel like huge improvements in passing and hitting efficiency (team passed under a 2 and pins hit under .200) are needed to build on this past year. It seems simple that if you just improve the passing, hitting efficiency should improve as well, but not always the case I suppose.
Do the players being sought after help improve where there are gaps, or does LSU just get “more” of what they already have? That’s a legitimate question, I don’t necessarily know for sure.

How has Hill looked? I remember her having a pretty solid freshman campaign and see in her bio that she had some unfortunate injuries in 2020 and 2021. Any chance she's back to full strength and contributing this fall?

Any chance she's back to full strength and contributing this fall? yeah she was very impressive her freshman year. has been struggling with injuries so hasn’t been able to match her level of play from a few years ago. this year she was behind both Dotson & Flickinger and would sub in occasionally but rarely got the start. unfortunately with Robinson coming in and the potential of Demps or another strong OH coming in, she might continue to be lost in the shuffle. I was honestly expecting her to enter the portal.

Completely agree! I think transfer wise, we really need to capitalize on a strong 6 rotation hitter to help with the passing. A strong middle coming in to help Anwusi is also crucial too. We currently have Williams behind Anwusi, but she is not the most effective offensively. Angie Lee and Mackenzie Boyer are incoming freshman that could tackle on this role, but I don’t know all too much about them coming into LSU and if they could step into this role.

Which pin(s) were DS’d last season? Depends. Definitely the OPP. Toward the end though, I believe Dotson and Flickinger were playing 6 rotations, unless Paige was struggling with her offense in the front row.

They should DS either Dotson or Robinson with Flickinger. The DS they played last year was a horrible passer.

Demps seems more like the person you set all the junk to and it keeps her from passing. I'd much rather have Dotson's offense for 6 rotations.
