Noticed Nebraska Pride in 17 Open for Show Me. New club? I've never heard of them. I thought the same thing. No roster listed yet. Is that possibly a team from the Kearney/GI area? We have been a part of club vb for 20+ years in GP and in Neb. This name doesn't ring a bell at all and they must be good if they are signed up for OPEN.

If you are headed to BigSouth this weekend and looking for something to do. Great spring matches at Georgia Tech on Saturday. GT vs Florida, Tennessee and Kennesaw State. ramblinwreck.com/sports/w-volley/schedule/

Big South National Qualifier gets going on Friday, pools are live. What is a challenge division? Open, USA, American... and Challenge? Just looking at the pools, some clubs have their 4th & 5th teams in this. There is no Challenge division for GJNC that I'm aware of. I would say no bid & probably the only multi day tournament some of these teams attend.

18s Challenge has some really good teams. I guess they just wanted an end of season warmup for Nationals?

Looks like you don't have to be good to sign up for open..

Drive Nation, Dynasty, and KC Power all went undefeated (no sets dropped) today in 17 Open at Show Me. Rockwood, TAV, and Premier all looked strong, too, dropping just one set each. Drive Nation drew a VERY tough Day 2 pool with Power, Pohaku, and Six Pack who are all terrific ball control teams with enough fire power to be dangerous. It’s great to see Louisville commit Payton Peterson healthy and playing well again. She’s easily one of the top true 6-rotation outsides in the ‘24 class.

SUNDAY SHOW ME UPDATE: Dynasty, Power, TAV, and Premier are undefeated (6-0) thru two days. Power handled Drive Nation with ease and look like a very tough out. Dynasty is yet to drop a set and hasn’t really been challenged yet. Premier is a very good ball control team and have enough fire power to be dangerous. TAV is big and has multiple weapons but don't pass as well as the other top teams from what I’ve seen.
For some reason, there are two four-team Gold pools Monday and the two pool winners will play in the championship. Why in god’s name make these girls play FOUR matches on Day 3? Anyway, here are the Monday gold pools:
POOL 1 Dynasty 17 Black TAV 17 Black OT 17 O Felix Drive Nation 17 Red
POOL 2 KC Power 17-1 Premier Nebraska 19 Gold Skyline 17 Royal VCNebraska 17 Elite

I always wondered why only open utilizes the gold pools vs one large bracket like USA and below does. Is the reasoning generally the better teams come out on top this way.?

I do not know the reasoning. But I would much rather see Day 3 as single elimination bracket play for the surviving 8 teams. It’s simple, less taxing on the players, and produces rankable results for assigning bids.

I'm not sure of the reasoning.... however, the open gold pools provide a lot of results among the open teams, and the at-large candidates....makes the at-large process easier, in my opinion. Also, open used to be the only division with multiple bids. I always thought that was why they had a bracket...but the advent of the other divisions kind of ruined that logic.

Could you tell us what happened? I was thinking DN would win.

DN ball control is just not good. It doesn't matter how much hitting talent you have if you can't get in system. Volleyball, man.

I thought they would have at least better ball control than TAV…
