Didn't Hugh wait for this very reason? Granted, it's not the exact same circumstances by any means. I only point it out as evidence that schools and coaches both recognize that it can be difficult to be working two VB jobs at the same time.

I've had nothing but positive interactions with Erin, good for her. She wore several hats at USAV, not just as an assistant on the national team. Her leaving creates a large hole at USAV, but I'm sure Jamie Davis has it covered.  |

Virtue is a solid hire, but there is much to learn about being the head coach. The double-duty plan does not bode well for Michigan or USA. How much did Michigan open the wallet on this move?

She has an excellent background: juniors, college player, college assistant, national team assistant, junior development: but NO head coaching experience: resume says looks good: but there have been crashes fas head coaches with excellent assistant resumes! This is an absolute no brainer hire, and the simple fact that they wanted her enough to agree to let her keep working with our national team through Paris means that they feel the pros of having her be the long term coach of the university outweigh the cons of her continuing to work with the national team through Paris.
Anyone questioning her ability because she has never had head coaching experience is laughable with her resume, she could have had a head coaching job after the last time she left if she wanted. I think she is a great template/example for a career path post playing if coaching or continuing in volleyball is your passion.
