I think you’re right. It’s probably very, very low. But if I’m listing things to be upset at politicians over, a pointless bill that outlaws something that doesn’t happen wouldn’t crack the top thousand. Let’s call it what it is, a way to show opposition to a potential presidential candidate. I think I would understand the bill's motivation more if banned all talks of sexuality, relationships, etc. I.E - showing a movie with a gay couple is off limits even if it is an age-appropriate movie, but a heterosexual couple kissing is okay. I don't know if this is the best example. It's any classroom discussion - so - what does an educator do if a kid asks about 'can two men get married'? They simply can't answer the question? Like, they should ban all talks of marriage in class if that's the case. But we know that's not what the bill says and it's not within the motivation of why this bill exists. The motivation is that it helps Florida Republicans' political careers to pass a bill saying 8-year-olds shouldn't learn about sexual orientation or sexual identity from somebody other than their parents.

Can someone just take this thread out back and shoot it in the head? Since we have now reached the "off season" for this board, perhaps it is time to once again explain that the way to kill any online discussion is to simply not reply to it. Even the people who want it to keep going will eventually get tired of posting with no other replies. (Except maybe if it is Holiday, but he seems to be content to only spam the OTN forum.) You've been replying to it, most recently about two hours ago.

My dear, that’s why you tag a MOD. So they can decide if the original topic has gone enough off the rails or not. I know you’re some of you are spearheading Ron’s 2024 campaign, but this stopped being about volleyball pages ago. No need to be defensive about that. Nobody is spearheading any campaign, misinformed activism was corrected, while simultaneously outing a whole bunch of people that are too ignorant and/or lazy to look up facts for themselves, as well as exposing a bunch of people ok with sub 10 year olds having unmoderated conversations about an extremely inappropriate topic for that age from a third party. The original thread was never about volleyball, it was purely a biased opinion based on falsities. Ok we got it. The original post has misinformation in it. You corrected, they changed and edited and now it is correct, right? Have you spread any misinformation here? You said THOUSANDS of teachers are doing this gender/sex Ed stuff. I asked for proof and you have not provided it other than to say “check out libs of tik tok.” Is that the only videos on that account? Elementary teachers talking about this topic and how they teach it? I asked about first grade teachers doing this, because that is what you claimed? Is that true? Or misinformation?

But I do think it would be a good idea for the content not about the actual Tampa FF location to be spun off to a separate topic in OTN.

It is true, it is happening every day, and I told you where to go look for some immediate examples. Perhaps it would do you some good to practice looking up some of your own answers, instead of just believing the first thing you don't agree with and joining in the mob mentality.

the core of this 'issue' people keep forgetting about is how young the kids are... I want some of y'all to say out-loud to a room full of people "I think k-3 teachers should be integrating lesson plans about sexuality and sexual orientation into their curriculum because I believe it is necessary for kids below the age of 10 to be learning about that" really let that sink in for a sec. no one is arguing about discussing these things to kids aged 12 and up. I usually am pretty fair and can understand the other side of arguments, but this one really stumps me for the people in support of it lol, im not gonna post anything else in here because ill never comprehend the other side of this one. peace n luv This was a solution in search of a problem. This wasn’t happening nor was there any indication that it was going to happen. No one is teaching about this in K-3. There was one or two anecdotal stories and then it got wild.

The forum has rules about what is on-topic and what is off-topic. I believe that the original discussion was on-topic, but it has definitely moved off-topic. Based on what, your biased opinion? The original statement not only used the slang term for the bill that Desantis opposition coined, as well as exaggerated/lied about the AP studies course. Nothing like a little hypocrisy mixed in with misinformed activism to try and prove your point. Here you go modern day coach… www.politifact.com/factchecks/2023/jan/20/ron-desantis/gov-ron-desantis-falsely-claims-bivalent-booster-v/Make sure to address the misinformation being spread here. If you need to know how to contact the Governor, I’m sure you can find it on tik tok somewhere. Another reason to not have the final 4 in Florida. I hope you have always called someone out for saying Obamacare because you know that’s not the name of it right? It’s the slang term opposition used to criticize it.

Have to agree with the OP.
NCAA should stop all national sports tournaments/games in the State of Florida.

There is certainly a legitimate and important conversation to be had between a female athlete (all athletes, really) and her doctor(s) about the relationship between sports activity and her body, but I'm not sure I see the role for the state of Florida in the middle of that conversation.

I've probably read 10+ articles about this and the two big issues with the proposed rules change: - Answers to the questions become MANDATORY which is not true for all those 43 other states. Hard to find the exact count, but it looks like very few require them to be answered and any areas that do require it tend to be city, county, region rules
- The FULL forms would be REQUIRED to be handed over to the schools and accessible by coaches and school officials which is not the norm. This is different than other states where most only require the signed page from the athletes provider which doesn't have any medical information on it just that the athlete passed the physical. The proposed change would also digitize the forms that would be held by schools and lead to concerns about the confidentiality of these forms
No article I've been able to find goes into the specifics of each state's form, but from what I've read those are the biggest differences from other states' processes. Privacy is a massive issue and the recommendations by the Florida High School Athletic Association's Medicine Advisory Committee, in my opinion, disregard individual people's privacy for no inherit benefit to that person. It also exposes those individual's private health information to people without the proper training to understand any health implications the answers may have.

After a hearing about it and comments from the public, the new rule making it mandatory to answer those five questions and report the results to the state was cancelled.
However, they did include a new requirement that all high school athletes have to report to the state what was their "sex assigned at birth".
