Houston (at home) sweeps TCU 25-17, -22, -21. Coogs held Parra to 8k on .073 and Abbie Jackson stays hot with 17k on .298 and Georgiades digs 22 in 3 sets. Rough game for all the hitters…but the libero on TCU is trash…if u cant dig or serve receive/pass what are u even doing trash is a bit harsh….

TCU v High Point about to get started. Must win for TCU? I don’t think so? But I feel like winning would lock them? Comparing the teams, I’m a little less convinced on Baylor. 2 for 11 in the Top 50 right now and they got swept by TCU. I think both are in because it would be hard for the committee to explain why a Top 25 team in AVCA didn’t get in the tournament, but I’m just not convinced by Baylor’s resume quite frankly. If I were a Top 16 seed, I’d much rather be playing TCU/Baylor right now than having K-State come to town. It’s really too bad that they had to schedule so many stinkers in RPI sub-151 (my guess is that after last season, many decent teams didn’t want to schedule them) …it really drags their RPI down, but they have much better records in Top 50 RPI than TCU or Baylor.

Offensive Player of the Week Reagan Cooper, Kansas, OH/OPP, Gr.
Defensive Player of the Week Mackenzie Morris, K-State, L, Sr.
Rookie of the Week Aniya Clinton, K-State, OH/OPP, Fr.
Kansas’ Reagan Cooper (Offensive) along with K-State’s Mackenzie Morris (Defensive) and Aniya Clinton (Rookie) earned Big 12 volleyball weekly honors for the second to last week of the regular season. Cooper was also announced as the AVCA/GameChanger Division I National Player of the Week.
Cooper guided the Jayhawks to ranked victories over then-No. 13 BYU (3-1) and then-No. 23 Baylor (3-0). The graduate student tied a career-high with 25 kills to help Kansas become the first team to beat the Cougars in Provo this season. The victory marked only the eighth time a team has beaten BYU at home in the last nine seasons. Cooper tied for the lead among league players in kills per set (6.00) and ranked second in points per set (6.43) while finishing fourth in hitting percentage (.463) during the week. This is her second career Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honor and her first since March 3, 2021.
Morris helped the Wildcats hold Texas Tech to a .121 hitting percentage for the week in two K-State sweeps. The 2022 Big 12 Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year handed in her 29th career 20-dig match in the second match, while she totaled a league-high 39 digs (6.50 digs per set) to bring her career total to 1,716. Morris leads the Big 12 entering the final week of the regular season in digs per set (4.85) and total digs (451). The senior libero also turned in a league-high four service aces (0.67 per set) during Week 13 while becoming the 22nd player in program history to reach 100 career service aces (102). Morris has five career weekly defensive honors (tied for the sixth most all-time) and is the first player this season to win Defensive Player of the Week in consecutive weeks.
Clinton earned her second Rookie of the Week after totaling 27 kills in the two sweeps over the Red Raiders. The freshman’s 4.50 kills per set ranked sixth in the league for the week while her 4.83 points per set was the seventh highest. Clinton has reached double-figure kills in seven of K-State’s last eight matches, totaling 13 overall this season, while helping the Wildcats finish their home schedule with 18 consecutive set wins.

The reason Baylor’s RPI is where it is, despite not having as many big wins, is that they also don’t have any bad losses either. Both TCU and Kansas State have multiple losses to teams outside of the top 100 of RPI, while Baylor’s worst loss is to KSU. Baylor’s strength of schedule backs up their RPI.

Skinner was a unanimous selection. The awards were selected by the league’s head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their institution.
Skinner led the league in kills per set (4.64) and points per set during the season (5.31). It marks the fourth consecutive season a Longhorn has been bestowed with the honor, the sixth time in the last seven, and the 13th in the last 15th years. The Health and Society major led a UT team that went 17-1 in league play while winning its seventh straight league title. Skinner won two Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week awards during the season while guiding a UT offense that finished first in the Big 12 in hitting percentage (.279). Her 22 kills against Kansas in a three-set match tied for the most by a Conference player this season. The Longhorns are 22-4 overall and a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship.
Turner finished atop the Conference leaderboard in assists per set (10.71). She is the first Jayhawk to win Setter of the Year since Ainise Havili won the award three times in a row from 2015-17. The native of Topeka, Kansas was selected as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week once during the season and helped KU finish first in the league with 13.03 assists per set and 14.02 kills per set.
Georgiades finished second in digs per set (4.51) among league players during the season while steering Houston to 11 league wins in its debut Big 12 season. Georgiades had the second-highest total of digs in a three-set match in a Conference contest this year with 22 against TCU on Nov. 15. Georgiades won Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week once while anchoring a Houston defense that ranked third in opponent hitting percentage (.175) among Big 12 teams this season. The Fitness and Sport major previously won the American Athletic Conference’s Libero of the Year in 2021 and 2022.
Gonzalez averaged 3.33 kills per set and 2.08 digs per set in her rookie campaign. Her 31 kills on Nov. 10 against Kansas were the second most by a player in a Big 12 match this season. She won four Big 12 Rookie of the Week titles during the season, the second ISU player in program history to procure the honor four times. Gonzalez is the first Cyclone to win Freshman of the Year since Jess Schaben in 2015 and the third all-time.
Bechard led Kansas to a second-place finish with a 14-4 record in league play. It was KU’s first season with at least 14 league wins since 2016, which was also the last season the Jayhawks finished in the top two of the Big 12 standings. This is his fifth Big 12 Coach of the Year honor, with the last four coming in 2012-13 and 2015-16. He is one of only two coaches to win the honor at least five times. Bechard ranks second all-time with 223 wins in Big 12 matches. He has the Jayhawks in the NCAA Tournament for the 12th season, all under his guidance.
