UCI started with a Pablo of 80, but have lost all three matches to #104, 221 and 141. Could be a long season.

Exciting 1st set between Beach and LMU ... ended kind of on a whimper tho. Was hoping Beach could complete the comeback after fighting off a bunch of LMU set points.
But LMU hangs on, takes a 1-0 lead ... 26-24

LBSU win against Texas was actually an anomaly. LBSU got outplayed in every statistical category and still won. LBSU actually didn’t play that well. Texas just played worst so LBSU beating Texas like they did in Friday should not be a sign of anything except it was just one match.
I mean LBSU hit 22% and had only 4 blocks and committed 25 hitting errors while Texas hit 25% had 13 blocks and committed half the errors LBSU had.
Go figure.

Yes, the LB win over Texas appears to be a black swan event, and not a predictor of anything.

LMU served great and played great floor defense and that is what they did in their loss to Texas. Congrats to LMU for their dominating sweep.
It appears that the emotional high from LBSU's win over Texas gave the team a long hang over. Of the five pin hitters LBSU played tonight four hit negative and their setter was running all over the place. Some of that was LMU's great serving and floor defense but it cannot completely explain how badly LBSU played. Too many post Texas hype videos and some cool aid drinking. The good things is LBSU is a lot better than they played today and they should be able to bounce back for next weekend.
Putting a positive spin on this weekend, I had LBSU going 1-1 with a loss to Texas and a win over LMU. If you are only going to win one match this weekend they picked the best one since it will give the team a quality win when deciding post season eligibility.

I mean LBSU hit 22% and had only 4 blocks and committed 25 hitting errors while Texas hit 25% had 13 blocks and committed half the errors LBSU had. Go figure. nope, Beach played better than Texas in serving, receiving, and passing, and kills (that fact seems to have been omitted above, lol) - those happen to be 4 statistical categories, and were the difference. So having a hard time understanding the statement "LBSU got outplayed in EVERY statistical category" it should have read. "LBSU clearly outplayed Texas in 4 statistical categories, serving, receiving, digs, and kills!" but maybe Texas actually outplayed LBSU in serving, passing, receiving, and kills and somehow LBSU won! from the tournament: Beach is more capable than expected Texas has a solid block, and needs to improve their passing quite a bit. Still have fire-power on that front-row LMU is a solid blocking team, and a high level OH the Beach-LMU was also one match, as was Texas-LMU the teams that served and passed the best won each match or one can go with recency bias, lol

Not really, they are trying to bounce back from losing the second best middle in the conference that just transferred to Oregon, and lost their best OH that transferred to UCLA.. two leaders of the team and two of the best in the big west so they need time to come back from that
