Couple of questions: Can Turkiye win the BIG matches, when it matters, and NOT have both on the floor? If no, then you have to try and make it work. And it won't be as simple as Karakurt improving her reception. I believe it will improve with reps and being the serving target as long as she doesn't crack mentally. My second question is can the libero and whoever the 2nd left side is improve their court coverage to poach more balls and help insulate Karakurt. And will they train a 4-person serve reception unit like you see more of in the mens game. I'm all for it though. Vargas and Karakurt on the floor together is awesome. yall are sleeping on how bad Karakurt’s defense in 6 is (its horrendous) and the fact that her court awareness is often…lacking. For me, her at OH is more of an impact sub thing than a dependable option. Turkey’s best chance of winning big matches is passing well (which theyre capable of), defending and blocking well (which theyre capable of), and Vargas going off (which she’s capable of) with Karakurt used as a front row sub at a key juncture or a few.

Like I said, if the answer to the first question is yes they can win then you don't do it. Keeping in mind Karakurt is also what, 23? Her serve/spike/block can impact the game more than her floor defence ever will one way or the other. As discussed, reception is the issue. But hey, no risk it no biscuit

But hey, no risk it no biscuit why i mentioned it, is because it was a big issue in the Poland match where they started both and got swept. Its also a bit different when a european player is 23 and been playing pro and nt since she was 17/18, compared to our women just coming out of college then. Egonu and Boskovic and Haak even were considered the best opposites in the world by the time they were 20/21. Arina was 17 in Tokyo and Euro 2021 and serving people off the court

I know Thailand's senior team is supposed to be a part of 7 different NT events this summer, but im hoping that the A-team just plays OQTs and Asian Champs. It's Thailand so I won't be surprised if they even play the A-team to the SEA VLeague/Asean Grand Prix They really need to rest though. SEA VLeague: August 4-7 (VIE), August 11-13 (THA) Asian Champs: September 2-10 (THA) OQT: September 16-24 (POL) Asian Games: September 28 - October 6 (CHN) That's a very short turnaround between Asian Champs and OQT, considering also travelling from Thailand to Poland. yikes. They are hosting plus they need the WR points so they will still most likely go, but that would be so tiring.

Love how they included Tijana's stats after only 4 matches in this group. She isn't even an middle and that stat line surely would have come a bit more down to earth had she played more matches. They should have just kept the list to show only MB's.

They should have just kept the list to show only MB's. What an odd complaint ? 1. Washington, Jurzyck and Stevenson played the same amount of matches as Boskovic. 2. Andy Baijens has scored 4 points this VNL. 3. This list isn’t a list of best middle blockers it’s just about the most efficient attackers. 4. Boskovic averaged around that number last season for ecza and before her injury and bad play off matches was even higher than that so no that number probably wouldn’t have “back down to earth” because the VNL is worse competition mostly. 5. To recap Boskovic played just as much or more than most players on this graphic lmao and did it on way more attempts and a lot of it out of system and she didn’t even boost her stats against Bulgaria bc she didn’t even start that match and again it isn’t a middle blocker comparison so I don’t know why you wanted her excluded lmao. 6. Idk why you seem so triggered that she was included 😭

Do we think Türkiye gets serious about training Karakurt at OH? They seem to be suffering from the USA effect of having two strong Opps but only needing one on the court at a time. Karakurt passed well against US when they tried her at OH. I think the problem is Karakurt’s passing isn’t consistently good just yet. Vargas and her make a good combo but they need to work on how they can hide Karakurt and how they can improve her passing. Vargas is passing much better though can’t she be OH and Karakurt OPP? Or is it impossible? Idk. I could see Turkey going 2016 Serbia. Have Karakurt at OH1 (Mihajlovic) and hide her in SR. Puts a lot of pressure on OH2 and libero, but I think the passing matchup is about even with 2016 Serbia - Hande/Meliha are better than Malesevic/Busa, and Gizem/Ayca are slightly worse than Popovic. The biggest discrepancy might be at setter - Cansu probably isn't as precise as 2016 Maja from errant passes.
