4 of these players have never even played a college match. Lets not kid ourselves that these are the best U21 players in the country right now. If I am correct in who I think you’re talking about, weren’t those 4 invited in the past?

If I am correct in who I think you’re talking about, weren’t those 4 invited in the past? To a U21 team? Not that I’m aware of, but to other younger groups, yeah. But that’s kind of my point. USAV is attempting to develop players they’ve already invested in - which is perfectly fine - but that is not the same as saying that those same players are the current best u21 players in the country. U21 is likely almost any rising non redshirt Junior in the country and some seniors - that is a lot of experience and talent to pull from to purposefully take current high school players.

Maybe I missed it but where in the article did it say that these were the best athletes? Genuinely asking.

Oh not in the article, it was more a continuation of Avid’s original comment - “ without knowing birthdate eligibility/availability/desire/etc... this roster seems pretty fair (with some exceptions... but that can stay unsaid lol)”

Here's the World Championship draw... still no clue on who will play in it Worlds will be young for U19 and U21. From what I understand, they are pulling kids from the U19 Pan Am and U19 Worlds for U21 Worlds tryouts in mid August. Tough time of year for availability with school starting and college/high school seasons beginning. A lot of kids are unavailable and for those who are on the U19 Worlds, that could be about 6 weeks straight of play. Awesome opportunity but tough competitions for a lot of first time international players.
