Looking back...Washington not only have confidence in themselves but in their teammates. When they announced the starters, they clapped EVERY teammate and went back to their spots. Wow, EVERY teammate?

I'm embarrassed for UH, because I honestly still believe, even after this beating, that they are better than the Gm. 1-2 scores show. Yes, Washington played superbly. But Hawaii played like Hawaii in game three, and it was much closer. We were thinking the same thing sitting through games 1 and 2. Hawai'i was terrible in game 1 and most of game 2. They played much better in game 3 so the defeat isn't as embarrassing as it definitely could be. Washington is a very steady, well coached, well disciplined team. They execute very well. Nothing they do is spectacular, just very effecient. Hawai'i otoh, looked out of sorts for much of the match. I realize Coach Shoji is still trying to settle on a lineup but there was really no reason for them to play so poorly for the first two games. I actually heard people booing the Wahine. Hopefully they get their act together and play tonight like they did in game 3. There's no embarrassment when you lose to a better team (at this point Washington IS the better team) but when you allow yourselves to be embarrassed at home, a little introspection is needed. The Wahine finished on a good note so here's hoping they carry the intesity from game 3 over to tonight's match. Bright spots for Hawai'i..... 1) Sanders is quickly becoming a very effective attacker. I expect the balls to go down when she is set. She just keeps improving. She's the only Wahine who had the "**** off!!" Washington intesity on her face but that's no surprise being a Kaneohe girl and all. She definitely needs to be on the court for the Wahine because she really fires up her teammates. 2) Candace Lee's serving. She got 4 aces (Hawai'i defenders standing still while the balls drop) but she served everything else into the net. ;D

Wow, EVERY teammate? Yes EVERY teammate...they'd run to the bench clap with their teammates and run right back to the court. Hawaii just takes a step foward...waves...step back.

Wow. I'm impressed. Only like half the teams in the country do this. A lot of them lose a lot.
I gave up being impressed with pregame introductions since...well pretty much from the beginning.
I suppose next you'll say they look good in warmups.

I suppose next you'll say they look good in warmups. Nope...I wasn't there...didn't see warmups...but they didn't get blocked during warm ups...and they hardly got blocked during the game ;D

Mason said in an article that Washington always held her to some of her lowest hitting percentages...things never change.
Bown probably watched and said "I told ya so"

I was thinking the same thing...I truly love the Wahine and I know my negative comments are based on frustration - At this time - but I've been following them obessively the past 10 years and in Final Fours/Regionals, etc..they start off slow and never really gain anything. Ace, Ace, Ace....what's with all the negativity? Sheesh. I'm worried about you. I have visions of you banging your head against the wall and kicking small animals as you watch the games. Relax, brah. Since you obviously get soooo frustrated and are soooo disappointed with the pathetic Wahine, let me try to save you some frustration from here on out. The Wahine are not perfect and have a lot to work on. They are not as good as Nebraska or Washington and probably will not be by the end of the season. I am not being negative. I hope I am wrong and will be cheering them on but that is the reality of the situation. That means they most likely will not win the national championship this year but they are a damn good team and shoud make the sweet sixteen and even the elite eight (and, yes, possibly the final four!). Guess what? If that happens, they will have had a very very successful season. Sorry to have to clue you in but, unfortunately, they will not be the best and most dominating team in the nation every year. Shoji also is not perfect but he is the most winningest (is that a word?) NCAA coach and deserves credit and respect. When he retires, it will not be cause for celebration in the islands; he is much liked and respected in the community. I am looking forward to going to tonights game even if the do lose again because I would rather they lose to the top team in the nation than sweep Bo Diddley Tech in 40 minutes every match. (Sorry to all the Bo Diddley Tech fans!) It's the best way for them to know and work on their weaknesses and it's damn good volleyball. Sorry to single you out but I really think you need to chill. Some Wahine fans are spoiled by the success the team has had. As if ONLY being in the top ten is horrible and they then demand the coaches heads on silver platters. [Okay, tirade over. Thank you very much. ]

some of my thoughts
Hawaii needs to match UW's intensity
they need to keep the libero of game three. She was the difference IMHO
UW is not going to beat itself.
Game three was the best thing to happen for UW. It will help them focus tonight, otherwise I think there would be a let down.
Hawaii is much better than they showed the first two games but I was surprised they were scared of us on their own court and in front of their own fans.
I hope Hawaii shows up and plays well. It is in the best interest of both team to have a close, tight, well played match.

PMA = Positive Mental Attitude... Island Girl's got it! Well... kind of.
The best thing about this team is that they CAN keep improving.
By the way, whoever said that they are worried about the WAC is definitely criminally insane. There is no way. USU is solid, but not capable. Nevada will fall apart, as usual, and Idaho, well, this year they are too young... I give them a few more years but expect a good push from them, shortly. New Mexico State does not have the talent to keep up (heck, they lost to CSU last night, who lost to Denver, who used to be in the Sun Belt, which NMSU used to play in)

Washington sure does have a lot of confidence -- and rightfully so. I bet that they get at least one more coach voting them number one in the next poll. ; )
Interesting quote from McLaughlin regarding the criticism of their schedule:
"People were concerned that we hadn't been tested," Washington coach Jim McLaughlin said. "We're tested every day in training. We train at a high level and all I want to see is the transfer of that training to game day. I don't think we get confidence from beating (No. 1) Nebraska. We get confidence in our gym."
