Maybe the statistics are waay off, but your perception doesn't match the statistics and that was exactly my point. Washington had a few more blocks, but she had fewer positive touches. Seems a wash based on the statistics with regard to block. Watched the match live. Dana’s block struggled early on, but she settled in as the match went on and got a good amount of block touches. Both Dana and Washington struggled with blocking the Polish middles (especially Korneluk), but from what I watched, Dana’s blocking was stronger than in week one. Watched the entire match without looking at anything on VT and I thought both Washington and Rettke played great. In the post match interview Kelsey said that good block touches were the difference maker in this win. What an awesome match - so fun!

do we think we would've won if we kept JT in? was the annie sub the game changer? Hard to tell. She was clutch at times and a mess the rest of the time. Her hitting percentage did take a big drop. Blocked and errors. But Annie provided a much needed lift at the start of set two when US couldn't find consistent scoring.

Oh, some people in the game thread definitely had an agenda. As always. I thought Dana was fine and any difficulty she had closing out on the pins this game (which was minor - Poland doesn't seem to routinely set their pins fast balls) were more than made up by the big closeouts she had on OOS balls - she was reaching WAY over the net and making it really hard for them to find anything cross-court. To be fair, Dana's ability to block pin to pin is her weakness (her weak arm is a thing of the past, she thumps it now when she has a seam). Fast offenses really make her look slow - it's why she wasn't a starter at Milano this year. OTOH, the people complaining that she couldn't block Korneluk? It's hard getting consistent touches against in-system balls to 6'7" middles (especially as fast as they ran it - that was fast even for an in-system 1 ball) - and eventually she and Haleigh put *just enough* touches on Korneluk to win.

Oh yeah, the anti-Dana agenda is strong on this site. As I’ve said before, if she’d have gone to Texas, the folks here would be posting “RETTKE!!!” every time she blinked 😂 She does need to improve on getting to the pins, but she (and Washington) both looked very good in this match! Was definitely worth staying up until 2am

The passing was off and the middles for Poland out played USAs to a "T" it was not easy for Hancock to get them in one on one situations but she was able to get the pins where need be...Washington was good on the block not Dana, they were more ready to block Washington than Dana...I still don't see Washington as a lock for the OG since O'Neal and Butler bring the same thing and more to the table Maybe the statistics are waay off, but your perception doesn't match the statistics and that was exactly my point. Washington had a few more blocks, but she had fewer positive touches. Seems a wash based on the statistics with regard to block. Washington can be spastic, but her best was much better than Rettke's best. Washington therefore had a bigger impact on the match.
