Nebraska sellouts are based on tickets sold, not bodies in the seats. Pretty well known that football stadium has not been filled a few times. I also would add that a few volleyball matches ( thinking the August noon start times) have fallen short as well. I think both should be moved on from at this point.

This was a tempest in a teapot. Probably a communication problem within the VB program, or possibly a VB-FB inter-program communication problem, which goes back to the VB program as FB has new staff. Not sure if the original post was a tongue-in-cheek joke, or people actually felt slighted. If the former, hopefully all involved now realize not everyone interprets things as you intended and in a high profile program things can spin off unexpectedly. If the later, young folks need to learn to not react as a victim so quickly. We've all been there, or at least I've been, but my errors were never so widely publicized and much easier to contain. In the end this is a minor thing. Tempest in a teapot. Also these are smart people, all will learn from the experience. All part of it, in a high profile sport team. Definitely was not tongue in cheek. The issues raised are legitimate issues. Witness thie difference in weight facilities that were afford the men's and women's basketball teams during the NCAA tournament a couple of years ago. But just because there are legitimate issues that exist, doesn't mean this specific instance is legitimate and it's encumbant on those making accusations to make sure those accusations are accurate. When you are already fighting systemic inequities, making an issue out of something that is not an issue only serves to cause people to doubt the real complaints and makes it harder to force change. I was specifically referring to the NE training table dust up, the title of this thread. I cannot speak to inequities between programs. However, I doubt any college volleyball players in the USA have better facilities and support than those at NE. I seriously doubt the NE VB players are short-changed vs players in other NE programs. Thus, it very well may have been a miss-interpretted tongue-in-cheek response by NE VB players. As Madi Kubik stated last year, NE VB players are treated like Queens. Might be a much different story at other schools, IDK, but this thread is specific to NE. |

Do people really believe that the volleyball team never gets catered meals that the football team doesn't get? I'm guessing the football program would be all aboard opening up all catered meals to all student athletes at Nebraska. Nebraska volleyball wants to get their team a nice catered meal? Cool. Better get enough to cover the football, men's and women's basketball, etc. teams! I think the football team's budget could handle this change much more than the volleyball team's could.
The volleyball team goes out to movie and a dinner as a team bonding exercise? Well, I hope they invited the entire football team too!
This is dumb. Oh no, the volleyball team had to walk over to the dining hall where their meal is comped anyway? Rough life. Guessing they can walk into their locker room and grab all the Gatorade, fruit, and granola bars they desire.

Blasting her alma mater, AD, and football program….. I get your point, but it’s not just posting something without facts, she maligned an institution, people, who gave her an awful lot of support, opportunities…… 100% And why? Because they feel empowered to say or do anything and they won’t face consequences. It is a major issue world wide now. |
