Maybe he doesn’t want to pull a Knipe and have his team suffer through mediocrity… haha In terms of scholarships though, from what I’ve heard, it’s fairly uncommon for liberos to get much of one, so I’m not sure how big of setback that is for BYU |

From a decent source, Layton Bluth is getting nothing. But BYU recruiting is very different from other schools. By being affiliated with the LDS church the tuition is not dependent on in-state/out of state or flat private amount like Pepperdine, but if you're a member of the LDS church or not. If you are a member like Layton Bluth is, the cost is around $8k a year which is pennies compared to other Power 5 conference schools. BYU will try to get the best LDS kids to join the team and they have to pay their cheap tuition, and then they'll use their scholarship money on people like Miks Ramanis who are great players but not LDS. |
