OP updated for 2024!
Last year Sacramento State finished atop the standings in the Big Sky with a record of 13-3, with Northern Colorado and Montana State right behind at 12-4; however, it was Weber State who won the Big Sky tournament and got the automatic bid to the NCAA tourney. Who finishes at the top this season?

If Weber State can replicate Richins’ production without much issue, I’d say them or Montana State.

Weird Poll. Seems like the conferences own coaches can't even agree who will win this league. I can't see a world where Weber wins it all this season. Losing their Libero and Richins is a tough hill to climb. I remember watching those Big Sky tournament games and those two were really good. My pick is N. Colorado, Sacramento, or Montana State (in that order) before I see Weber State.

I'm a fan of Matt Houk from his days at Minnesota. I expect he will turn Montana State into Big Sky champions this season. Before his many years at Minnesota he was HC at South Dakota 2008-2013, beginning the Division I era there, and mentoring current HC Leanne Williamson. I'm guessing that's why Montana State will be playing in the South Dakota tournament in a couple of weeks. He's a winner.

UNC are looking strong this season. Their setter is really good.

Yeah, Northern Colorado appears to be on path to the Big Sky championship in 2024. If they win at Denver Saturday, they can legitimately claim to be the best college team in Colorado, which I believe would be a first for them. Metropolitan State (Div 2) in Denver might argue that assertion. I know Linda Delk led several good UNC NCAA D2 tournament teams, and UNC has qualified for 7 NCAA D1 tournaments after moving up to D1 in 2006, but UNC had little success against Colorado or Colorado State prior to 2024. It would not be surprising to see them enter the 2024 Big Sky tournament with only 3 losses.
