The players who did not play tonight are in discussions for potential red shirt seasons. Nobody was surprised by not seeing the court. i know you know stuff so that's a relief. otherwise i was among those who thought every player should've played in this one. i thought so because the event was supposed to be a celebration of college volleyball, and women's sports broadly; it's much bigger than the game itself. even at the risk of losing a non-con game every player should've played. but, what you said makes sense.

Every Nebraska player should have a great memory of this day…. Every Nebraska player should have played at least a full set in this match. It was suppose to be. . . was billed as by John Cook, as a “life changing match”, and every player would remember this for “the rest of their lives”, yet two of these players did not play a single point and another played a token 2 or three points. Cook is too smart a coach to not know what he did. While 90,000 fans will have life long images of a great night for Nebraska Volleyball, 2 Nebraska players will have a lifelong memory of not playing a single point in the match…why? Wish I had the guts to ask Cook during the presser why he left 2 of his players on the bench for the entire match, but I just could trust myself to not scream at his smarmy smirk. Hey John, know the flipping room…you were playing Omaha, there was no reason for not playing every player tonight…the Red-White scrimmage verified that every player on your team is better than every player Omaha has. . Know the room. Do your words mean a damn thing? Go off and have another cry, John… You should actually fight him, I’m sure that’ll solve everything.

the whole event was so magnificent that it's much easier than usual to ignore the detractors.
should they have scheduled someone other than UNO? i contend that they shouldn't have. the whole event is presumably funded by the university system, and the benefits of the event should be reaped by the university system. unl and uno being the only d1 teams within the system. the lead and the 1st supporting roles are naturally theirs. ideally you'd have a 5-set thriller to punctuate the whole event but this is not a movie shoot where you get to do multiple takes and a great deal of editing to come up with a coherent story. an event like today's incorporates a tremendous amount of financial and human resources, complex planning and logistics operations... and you get to do only one take and it has to be successful. the margin of error's slim to none. you want to take away as many variables as you possibly can. from a planning perspective you'd prefer a smooth, uneventful 3-setter with a credible opponent to a 5-setter that last longer with more potential for unaccounted variables. the significance and success of the event outweighs the game itself by a large margin anyways. not to mention state schools under the circumstances are much more incentivized to cooperate in everything leading up to the game than some school outside the un system to assist fully with enhancing the huskers' legacy. with the resources invested and risks taken, nebraska's probably not interested in sharing the easy record and the PR (including recruiting) coup with any real or potential rival. uno might be the only school that made sense.

I wanted Creighton, but midway, i was thankful to know that it was between public universities. it would have been really cool to see an all-star state game of HS three set match. before the D2 schools! maybe they make this a quadrennial tradition so it's a recruiting tool for the universities involved? every recruit will get to play it at least once in their career?

Seemed like a great event just as is. Very professional, world class production. Excellent for Nebraska, volleyball and women's sports. Again WORLD CLASS!

Know the room. Do your words mean a damn thing? Go off and have another cry, John… I am confused. After the Red-White scrimmage you were talking (ranting about would probably be a better term) about red flags that Coach Cook had not finalized a starting line-up. You called him a coward for not doing so. Ten days later Coach Cook has obviously followed your advice and finalized a roster and is maximizing the play for the starters. Just what you were ranting he needed to do. Now you rant he is not substituting enough. It appears you have an extreme dislike/loathing of Coach Cook. You say you are in the post game presser but lack "the guts" to ask Coach Cook pertinent questions. My interpretation, you are an unhappy person that thrives on negative comments against most things Nebraska. And by your own admission a coward unable to address your angst directly. Again I suggest you look in the mirror before condemning others. It's an imperfect world, human nature is imperfect, ditto all humans.

I don't get the nitpicking. This was a transformative blockbuster event for women's volleyball in general and Nebraska volleyball in particular. The number of impressions on sports TV shows, social media, news coverage, etc. is unlike anything else I've ever seen in all my years of wondering why the "powers-that-be" who control the sport don't do more to promote it. I'm a little surprised that it's not getting more attention on VT, but I guess we're a jaded bunch.

Being at this event was life changing. If people only knew the efforts of Terry Pettit. to grow the sport in this state years and years ago. His efforts were responsible for the 92,004 people. Nebraska volleyball is a treasure. And these people came to say THANK YOU. They had to pick one team on their schedule this season. UNO was the perfect fit. Thank you Nebraska, volleyball is one of the greatest sports in the world, and you've pushed it to another level.

Does anyone have a link that lists all the Nebraska volleyball alumni players that were in attendance last night?
