Didn't we say we needed the "round" reference in the thread titles? and that those who don't want spoilers should stay away from VT? Just need clarification. Generic title with the Round and the (sub)regional location/host if posted the same day that the first pair of matches in that 4-team set were played (e.g. the Kentucky sub-regional round-2 thread has a generic title, because it was posted on Thursday, the same day that Kentucky played Wofford, and Baylor played James Madison. On Friday, the thread creator can/should edit the thread and change the name of the title to be actual teams, rather than "Kentucky Sub-Regional." On the other hand, if the 2nd (or 4th) round thread is posted the day after the 1st / 3rd round matches occurred, then it's no longer considered a "spoiler" to put the names into the thread title, because it makes it easier to spot, and those few VT-ers who don't want to know who won those matches should stay away from VT and all social media.

It's tournament opener day!!! We're all caught up for day one of the first round match threads- great work, everyone! basil rainbowbadger baytree manyshaped ilikecorn eazy houstonbear15 exit237a bruinsgold JT JJVb trainermch avid 2.0 Thought I'd bring up the conversation we had last year about avoiding spoilers in the titles of our second round match threads as they get made: There are eight round two match threads for games being played tomorrow that could possibly be created today (these are the ones that will be based on today's results). As avid mentioned in our conversation last year, it would be great if we could go with the vague naming convention like my example above. Then we can change the titles tomorrow to reflect who's actually made it to the second round in each sub-regional, while not spoiling results in the thread titles. FWIW, this effort would be consistent with the spirit of this message that's posted at the top of the main board: Please avoid "spoilers." Do not post the outcome of matches in the title. Thanks.
Oh, fork, I totally missed this. Will update mine. Sorry. You could also change the URL in what you posted for exit237a above. The important part of the URL is up through the thread-number. The rest of it is actually meaningless drivel to make it somewhat easier for a person to read what the thread is about, just from the URL. (I.e. If you change the title of the thread, it doesn't invalidate URLs that include the original title.)

SMUH. We resolved this a long time ago. Or so I thought.

I think however anyone wants to title their thread is going to be fine. The narrow, ideal naming convention we used last year was to keep the spoilers out of the thread title until the day of the match. So from tonight until sometime tomorrow it would be vague like "Round 2 | Illinois Sub-Regional | Fri, Dec 1 - 7 PM ET | ESPN+" and then sometime before the start time of the match tomorrow we'd rename it with the two team names.
But we really don't need to sweat it one way or another. I'm listing all the round 2 thread links in this thread's OP with the team names withheld until tomorrow regardless of anyone's actual thread title and I'll list the team names tomorrow when I wake up and log on. It's an effort to make things ideal for our fellow VTers without actually asking them their naming convention preference : ). We're all doing a great job just getting all the match threads made so I think we're doing fine.
