It should be obvious why ESPN has an interest in promoting the SEC, ACC and Big 12 and not promoting the Big Ten (including future Big Ten schools). I mean, obviously if they think something will do a huge number, they'll put it on. But all things being equal, they'll prefer their future partners. And there is no conference more important to ESPN going forward than the SEC. So I think it's pretty easy to see why SEC volleyball is getting promoted by ESPN. And ESPN owns the SEC Network (and ACC Network). I don’t know the process for ESPN picking up Big Ten or PAC-12 matches, but I’m sure it’s very cheap and simple to pick up SEC and ACC matches. The Big Ten is a FOX partner, so not going to happen for conference games. |

I think there is a good chance it will beat the Nebraska-Omaha Volleyball Day numbers, but 1 million? That's a big ask. I'm guessing it will land somewhere between 600k-750k. |

I want to see a huge number, but the other thing I’d love to see is a lot of promotion for the match during the college football being carried on the Big Ten, and even Fox. I’m seeing more promotion of other volleyball matches on ESPN than I used to, but I still don’t feel like I see much promotion of their volleyball content during other broadcasts. That’s my perception though, so maybe I’m wrong about it. I’d love to see more casuals tuning in. I’m so excited about the amount of volleyball being shown on linear channels this year. Now I just want to see it promoted a little better. |

They really need to make finding VB a hell of a lot easier on their apps. Both the iOS and AppleTVOS apps for FoxSports don’t make it easy to find anything outside of the NFL, MLB, NCAA FB/BB, etc. ESPN has at least made it fairly easy to find NCAA VB in the scroll bar that show various sports/leagues. VB used to be way far off the screen, but it’s been closer to the main screen recently. |
