Wucherer played well, Murr a hidden gem. Grote was great.
One of the things I have liked about this team so far is that they haven't gotten stuck in a rotation often which, when it happens, can be crushing during a set/match. The one time that the Gophers got stuck tonight was during a nailbiting run in the 5th set that took Oregon from down 10-6 to up 11-10. During that entire run for Oregon, Landfair was the ONLY PLAYER TO MAKE AN ATTACK! She either got blocked or hit free balls over. It didn't help that serve receive got wobbly with two terrible serve receives by Landfair (shank and through hands) and three mediocre to average serve receives by Wucherer (all of them around the 10 foot line). They got out of the mess with a beautiful backset from Shaff to Hanson for a crushing kill. That righted the ship just in time.
I thought the biggest difference in the match was that the Gophers dramatically tightened up their net defense. They started to get blocks or touches consistently at the net in the last two sets and it shifted the match to the Gophers.
Fun match. A sweep for the weekend would be fantastic.

No match-specific thread for tonight’s battle vs Stanford… use the main tourney thread for it.
