I think that I would be a little nervous about playing in that part of the world, then again Stacey is NOT an American so it might not be so dangerous for her as it would for an American.....

The Middle East gets a bad rap. It's as dangerous and as safe as any other city.
I've actually had more frightening experiences in Barcelona and Honolulu than anywhere in the Middle East. Now, Turkey, I've never been, but all my Jewish friends love to visit Turkey more so than the Middle East. Fear is all in the head. Of course, I tried to get my Israeli tour guide to go sightseeing in Bethlehem but he was too afraid.

And why would that be Beachman? That part of the world is as safe, even safer than, many other places that you'd deem appropriate to live in including many places in the US! This is also true for Americans...

It is amazing to me that Turkey can have a professional women's volleyball team/league but the United States cannot support such a league. I am not counting Puerto Rico as part of the US.

Not only do we have a professional league but it's a very good one too It's actually the second best in Europe after Italy (though Russia is coming really strong...). As for the US supporting such a pro league, I really don't see that happening for any women's sports and not just volleyball in the near future. The country is too fascinated with NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB to float any women's league - and before someone says anything I think the WNBA would have folded by now had it not had the support of the NBA.

It's true, Turkey is very dangerous compared to safe and government-protected American cities such as Oklahoma City, NYC, and New Orleans. If only those silly people in other countries would take more notice of our shining city on a hill.

sIsam, you're the best, as usual! Appreciate the pics, and keep us informed! Btw, you didn't say anything about her play.. i know it was just set rotations, but I never missed watching her warm up before matches. If you talk to her, please say hi from Columbus, and tell her that her dad talks about her endlessssssssslyyyyyy. ;D
(He'd chuckle if he reads this, because he knows I can listen to his daddy/daughter stories for hours!)

Well, she looks and sounds "American," and I doubt that thugs over there are as accomodating as customs here: "Citizenship?" No kidding... I'd rather hang out in Ishtanbul than Detroit any day.

The Garden of Eden, if you believe in it, is located in Turkey, according to some scientists. Others think it's in Iraq. A few quacks believe it's in Missouri or Florida.
