I don’t think there was enough appreciation for the sub plot of Heather and Jerritt trying to out-Karen each other with the refs. Heather was more frequent but Elliot more defiant.

Turns out dragon fire takes about one full set to ignite. But after that, she did the thing!

Confused as to why Heather took swapped Eden Bower for Little. No you aren't! You know exactly why Heather wants Eden in the match and will do anything to get her in.

I completely forgot that they played back to back matches but congrats to Texas for sweeping the series! Thank you Big 12 conference offices for gifting both matches in Austin, and thank you to league members for over ruling UT’s wish to make the series a home and home. I’ll take the result. I will say I’m appreciative of the BYU program, its coaches and the BYU fans for this one year both Texas and BYU are in the same league. Both of these matches felt like two evenly matched teams with the outcome in the balance the whole way through. They were very exciting. I’m grateful for the opportunity to watch both teams go at it. Texas just keeps improving from match to match. It’s been a very satisfying season to follow thus far.

Your freshman setter will look back on this match as her breakout match. She is very good, not as predictable as Bower on the dumps (Bower has 4 more years of experience at D-1), but just as effective. Ella is not quite as good as Bower on defense, but is way better than Bower in the blocking dept. Ella's serve is a little behind Bower. But, ball placement is already a big plus to Swindle vs Bower. Of course freshman will make mistakes but Bower was the reason that 70% of the blocks on the BYU OH happened. She sets way too close to the net with consistent inconsistency! Ella is much better and way more consistent at off the net placement. Bower has a lot of flash which most observers immediately define as her being a great setter. Not so. Olmstead actually allowed Bower to do the splits in the air after most jump sets her first 2/3 years at BYU. All flash and terrible technique. Fans and BYU commentators loved it. Olmstead told a national TV audience after the first match of Bowers career at BYU that she would be able to play in the Olympics if she wanted to. The statement flabbergasted most knowledgeable volleyball observers as something that couldn't possibility be known at that juncture. But Heather loves her and she also loves Bower's younger OH sister who is maybe the 4th or 5th best OH on the BYU roster. She keeps shoving her into matches (like last night) hoping that she will play at an elite level. She can't! Claire Little (OH2) got pulled after the first set vs Texas for what reason? It is unbelievably bad coaching. Elise Stowell is a much better OH than Eden Bower and a good passer unlike Eden. Put her into the match if Little isn't doing the job. But Little was doing the job. Pull the freshman Little and she loses confidence ..... like all freshman. Just really bad coaching. If Olmstead were coaching Texas .... she would have replaced the entire starting lineup after set 1 last night. Crazy bad coaching with Little. I am sure that Little (with less confidence) will be inserted back into the starting lineup tonight now that BYU went down to defeat last night. In a way I hope Olmstead keeps Eden Bower in the line up for tonight so JE can start targeting her all over the court like other teams do. Maybe it would teach a lesson that seemingly can't be learned any other way. Ella Swindle is a very good setter and she will be great by the end of the year .... since JE isn't allowing a few mistakes to pull his talented freshman off the court like some other coaches .... Dude. Paragraph breaks, please. I like longer posts, but it makes it so much easier when there are paragraph breaks. Noted!

No you aren't! You know exactly why Heather wants Eden in the match and will do anything to get her in. Yep, we all do. Little was sick and hadn't been feeling well. Her stats didn't say that. If she could play at all I would have kept her in the match and if her name were Eden she would have been kept in. Also, if she was truly sick enough to not be able to take the court in the 2nd set (she wasn't in the locker room), why wasn't Elise Stowell put in instead of Bower?? Heather hoping everyone will forget Stowell is on the roster and better than E Bower.....
