FWIW: Maryland was doing this just crazy thing with subbing their opposite, Schnitta. She would play across the front; then when it was her turn to serve, they'd send in a serving sub for her. When the serve was over, Schnitta would come back in and play back-right for serve-receive. Only she was no part at all of the receive pattern. Instead, she seemed to be there only for the possibility of a D-ball or pipe attack. After another half or full rotation, they would then sub her back out for a different DS than the serving sub, until it was her turn to come back in to the front. One court position and they used FOUR subs per rotation on her. I don't think she played the third set at all. Opposites rarely pass, and when they are back row and not passing they stand on the baseline (where exactly depends on the rotation). So yeah, she was in there to hit back row. It sounds to me like, especially in rotation 4 (opposite serving) that Hughes wanted an extra back row attacker because Csire was up front in that rotation - and was willing to burn a sub (or two?) to do it. Unless we're taking about Stephanie Samedy, I ain't burning four subs on one court position.

I thought Orzol and GG did a great job of keeping us in system on their digs today. It's apparent that Maryland isn't that terminal outside their middles, but you still have to execute and I think their execution was really good.

But I think they were DSing their OH1 as well so then at that point I agree.
