UW abandoned the 6-2 in the third set and it helped, and UW also played Pertofsky in the back row in that set. Is it a coincidence that this was the only set where UW was competitive? UW was up 20-16, but got stuck with Wilson in the front row - USC went on a 7-1 run to go up 23-21, with a Trubint service error bailing UW out. With Wilson in the back row, UW did fight back to force three set points, but then USC scored three straight points with Wilson back in the front row (starting with the Pertofsky service error) to close out the match. All in all, USC was 10-2 with Wilson in the front row to finish the match, vs 3-5 with Wilson in the backrow, outscoring UW 13-7 down the stretch. |

We should have hired Mansfield. I'm not sure he would have done much better with the talent and injuries. This is mostly about recruiting and/or the portal. U-Dub needs talent. |

USC didn't pass that much better than UW. The difference is converting poor/good passes into effective swings. Not kills necessarily but giving an attacker a high, attackable ball, and the attacker having the patience to wait on that high ball. They used that lack of precision to their advantage, something UW will need to be better at to keep matches close.

Sorry to so negative, UW fans. I had hoped that by this time in the season we would see more growth and cohesion. Maybe better times are just around the corner but it's hard to see after last night. This could also be written about UCLA and possibly USC once Fields leaves. |

That’s exactly what he would have done better. He would have recruited enough players to fill the roster. I’m pretty sure there’s an open scholarship being unused for UW right now. I mean, they probably award a walk on already, but would have been nice to have another pin or MB. |
