Michigan will have a little different look from what the Huskers saw a month ago in Ann Arbor. Two big lineup changes have suddenly resulted in the Wolverines playing competent volleyball. Are they enough to seriously challenge Nebraska at Devaney? Of course not. A set win would though would be be a major accomplishment and something to grow from going into 2024 for this young team. Hannah Grant has returned from an extended absence at libero and her presence has made an immediate impact on the quality of play. In addition to her passing and defensive skills, she has brought much needed floor leadership to the team. Opponents have had to target serves away from her, she's been passing dimes and keeping balls in play. Everyone on the team has been playing better around her and if this ends up being her last dance with the team she sure is making the most of it. The other big change came with freshman (and Nebraska native) Morgan Burke replacing Scottee Johnson at setter. Burke has been terrific spreading the ball across the offense and it certainly helps that she is getting better passing to work with. It could not have been an easy decision for Erin Virtue to bump Johnson from the starter spot in her senior season, but the offense has been running much more efficiently with Burke running the show. Kendall Murray is coming off her career best match against Rutgers where she had 24 kills and hit .537. What a great moment it will be for her to face her sister on the court (likely) one last time. I'll be cheering for both #27's in this one. Go Blue! appreciate this post! did not know Michigan's new setter is a Nebraska native. What a fun match for her and Kendall to be apart of...as well as Harper. Burke is a Class B State Champion out of Skutt Catholic in Omaha and played in the NCA All Star match this past summer. This has very much been a development season for her at setter. She was getting used off and on earlier in the season in a 6-2 that didn't work very well. She replaced Johnson in the middle of the match against Indiana last month, had her first start against MSU and has recorded multiple double-doubles since. She has a good serve, plays solid defense and has really calmed down the chaos on offense. I'm excited for her future. What a thrill for her and her family to be playing at Devaney on Friday. |

What is amazing is this match won’t even be competitive but it will be sold out anyway. Even on the road they are selling out places. Wild.

He said he didn't know when she'd be back and that she wasn't on the court yet - but was out of the boot and do some running in the pool. But there is no sense in bringing her back before she's ready. It would be nice to have her for Wisconsin, but at this point - having her ready for the regional semifinal will make me happy. |

Well, her mother did tweet this out yesterday, “Ruptured and displaced, are not words any athlete wants to hear.” so, say what you want, but “ruptured and displaced” does not sound like a “playing volleyball again in 2023” thing… even though Dr. Gibby, assures us she will back to 100% before the season is over 🤪 we’ll see how it goes 🏐 |

At this point, I’d rather the Huskers go into the tournament undefeated and get sniped out there, rather than feel a loss that refuels them to then go on and win it all. For this, I say. 🕯 GBR 🕯
