Shoji’s source on the bracketology being Erik, his son, is hilarious

trojanscdave said his RPI guru is eric said they are in if they win the semis and will have an RPI mid 40s ish and in two questions ARE YOU ERIC 2. Assuming no bid stealers come, do you agree?

OH MY, OH MY! What a match this evening in Manoa! There was a big, loud Hawaii crowd in attendance tonight, and it was one of those chicken skin moments. The serving and serve receive ultimately decided the match and the tight sets 1 and 2. While the Beach offense was more efficient, the Hawaii offense produced 8 more kills. The Beach's Chacon was being targeted relentlessly in serve receive but was able to recover a little bit.
Amber, as many have said before, is a mother. It was so emotional watching her come out for her senior farewell. With over 1,000 kills and 500 blocks, Amber has had her hand in so many Wahine points during her career. She will go down as a legend. Thank you 2023 seniors!
Tonight, Caylen played with more intention than I've ever seen from her. I think that once she was back on the outside, she saw her opportunity to win the position and seized it.
Even though many contributed, I thought the true stars of the evening were Tayli and Kate. They played so well and executed consistently.
The Beach's Zayna Meyer is a dynamic setter that is getting better and better, and Elise Agi doesn't look imposing, but she gets on the ball fast and has a heavy hit. I am so excited for the Big West tournament. May the best team win and GO BOWS!

No, I am not Eric, but, it would be cool if I was half as good as Erik Shoji at passing and defense. Anyways, it's not that simple. UC Davis could beat Poly and then that win doesn't move Hawaii up at all if Hawaii beats Davis. If it's Poly - Hawaii gets a big push and yes *could* end up mid-40s. The RPI in that range is still working itself out with the conference tournaments and other last week matches. It's still too early to call. I'd be pretty surprised if Hawaii loses the Big West Semis and gets in. I wouldn't be surprised if they won the semis and got in or left out (I'd very slightly lean towards Hawaii getting in at this point, but, it's likely a toss-up). Obviously, they can just make things easy and win two matches next week and go dancing.

Great win by the bows. Congratulations to the seniors and Mahal for all for the entertainment and representing Hawaii!
So happy that Alexander finally had a great night and got her revenge against LBSU.
What happened to Hakas? She had such a great night last night and last weekend. Didn’t expect Hawaii to win without her.
Also thought it was odd that Paula didn’t hit again on the left side.
I love this team but definitely has Dr. Jekyl and Dr Hyde vibes. Can play great one moment and then another moment giving away long runs. Can’t be giving away long runs in the post season.

What happened to Hakas? She had such a great night last night and last weekend. Didn’t expect Hawaii to win without her. I hope she's okay. After getting pulled in the 1st set, she kept going to the back first with Chandler and then with other staff. Also seems she was wiping tears off while sitting on the sidelines and her body movement reminds me of someone who is feeling ill.

After getting pulled, she ran straight to the locker room with the team Dr. and emerged after like 10-15 minutes later. When Tali came back, she sat on the bench with her jacket on and spent a lot of time being bent over like she had a upset stomach or food poisoning . Probably got some fluids into her body and seemed ok during the senior ceremony.

Tali was spraying it early and eventually got subbed out. That changed things because then Alexander came in after the Wahine bled a lot of points. With her in, I feel Riley had to stay in because of her ball control (normally Paula would play Riley’s front). Then Ham wasn’t producing for a while and so Paula subbed in for her. I thought it was interesting … but it ended up working … it helped that Ham made the Beach off balance from the service line.
I think what made Alexander good were those speedy sets. She looks comfortable with high balls … but on those tempo sets, she was just going after it. Riley benefits from tempo also.
Hopefully we’ll see more of that in the tournament … and a line up that will take us to the championship to win it!

So the best thing for the conference is for LBSU to beat UCI, then UCSB in semi and close with a win over Hawaii in the finals. Three teams get in. I like it .
