That may be a problem by the morning. Shovel some snow, maybe.

As for the Smrek and Franklin duo…? Girlll who tf has an answer to that? Franklin especially…those angle shots are world class, had me gagged the whole time. Definitely giving NPOY said what I said I was just checking stats for something, and found out that this is actually Sarah's fourth double-double in a row!! Definitely NPOY resume material.

It’s called a triple block. Whenever Wisconsin is out of system, and you know the ball is going high to the left pin, the 3rd front row player (aka the OH) needs to go with the middle and block if she’s swinging. Make a judgement call on whether to actually block, but you should, because Franklin rarely ever tips or rolls. I don't think this is quite true, I've seen Franklin tip quite a lot when it's effective. The tip just isn't effective as often against Nebraska (because of their ridiculously insane floor defense). If there was a triple block I think she would definitely be raising her percentage of tip shots, because the donut would be there more often. That’s why the OH makes a read, generally a hitter changes something up if they’re gonna tip, then you just peel off a step and cover it. Your OH just needs to make reads and make plays like they’ve done their entire lives.

Are you suggesting they wouldn’t prefer to defend against her junk?? The issue with the triple block is that it does leave you very vulnerable to tip/roll shots because the back row has a vastly bigger amount of area to cover. Sarah has great tip/roll shots as well, and can just drop that ball where the defense is not going to get it if she's triple blocked. I think that is what badgerbreath meant when they said that's why Nebraska didn't triple block her. They would have been giving her way too much area to work with and she would have just taken that as free points. Gillian Grimes did an amazing job defending Sarah, but she didn't have to worry about positioning herself defend if Anna got the ball, since TTA was in for her, and not nearly as effective. Lexi and the Nebraska back row didn't have that option. It’s about the OH reading the hitter, if she’s able to pull off a nasty beach roll shot to the 10 foot line, hey, you lose that one. But the point is that if the OH sees Franklin going up to tip or roll, most likely it’s headed right behind the block. That OH doesn’t jump to block then. That OH peels off 3 feet and picks that ball up. Cook has Murray peel at all times so that she’s in no man’s land. What better use of your Uber athletic OH’s (FYI, Batenhorst was a top 5, if not #1 prospect) than get them closer to the ball thru blocking?

As far as defending Franklin goes, in Nebraska’s system the off blocker defends the opposing left side’s tips. So that brings Batenhorst in to the direct line of Franklin’s sharp cross court shot. But since Ally is so far in, she is getting burned by it. One option Nebraska could to do against Franklin is have position 1 come up and cover tip/donut and let the off blocker stay back to deal with the sharp cut shot. Force Franklin to go line, allow 6 to play deep and pinch in towards deep 1. This will allow Lexi to stay pretty neutral in left back without having to cheat in and allowing deep 5 to be too wide open. Franklin was loving sharp cut last night, so we don’t need to stop it, just keep it in play more than we did. She must’ve been like 8-0-10 on that shot last night Edit: Nebraska also needs to recognize that when there is a block up on Franklin when she is drifting out of court rhat she will go cross every time. When Franklin is drifting, back 1 should always be covering tip bc if she’s hitting from outside rhe antenna there’s really only limited space to go Not enough people realize the atenna is the best blocker in the country 😂

Purdue is holding a sign that says “owned!”
Wisconsin says to Nebraska, 'Meet Smrek.'

Yup, championships are so easy. Doesnt Cook have the most championships of any active head coach? Why active coaches?

Doesnt Cook have the most championships of any active head coach? Why active coaches? Because Russ Rose, Penn State, is retired. (Similarly, Kevin Hambly wasn’t at Stanford for their championships.)
