the BWCT will include the only teams that have been conference champs since 2010, when Fullerton was the last outright champ, and other than UOP, problem these 4 teams have been it since the early 80s. should be great intense evening of VB Massey Ratings: masseyratings.com/cvol2023/10695KPI: SB, 28, Hawaii, 50, Beach 63, Poly, 100

11/23/23 From Figstats (Team Sheets)
CP RPI Before-After CP vs. UC Davis: - Before: 98. - After: 96; adjusted - 97. After all conference matches and tournaments and prior to the NCAAT, the Figstat 'adjusted RPI' should be the NCAAT committee 'selection RPI'.
Beach RPI Before-After Beach vs. UCI: - Before: 70. - After: 70; adjusted - 70. ------------------------------------- Semi-finals.
UCSB vs. Beach: - Before: UCSB RPI 36; Adj. 36. Beach RPI 70; Adj. 70. - After:
Hawai'i vs. CP: - Before: Hawaii RPI 63; Adj. 59. CP RPI 96; Adj 97. - After:
Historically, NCAAT at-large last-in have been in the RPI mid-to-low 40's. Very rarely a team in the low 50's gets in, and Teams in mid-30s have been left out/overlooked.

I hope these top 4 schools can put a consistent resume year in and year out. These 4 schools can be what the BW needs in terms of bringing BW volleyball to at least a respectable conference. They just need that extra push in a couple of preseason matches and a push in the post season.

Don't forget San Diego who didn't quality because they just moved up to D1 but have everything it takes to be a potential powerhouse in the Big West (in all sports)

Basically if SB wins out this is probably a one team NCAA conference Some bubble teams are watching this and rooting for SB closely… Lots of this on the line in these conference tournaments

Love UCSB's success this year, but of course would like to see 2 teams in the tourney, so rooting for LB or Hawaii to win. Plus never easy being the favorite and winning out. Look at USU. They only lost once in conference, but lost in the MWC tourney.

Hawaii does have one stat that stands out, for at-large
4-4 vs. top 50
outside the top 25: the # of teams from 26-55 in RPI, only ONE team, Coastal Carolina, has a winning record 7-3 vs. the top 50, and only 2 others (one being UCSB) have a 0.500 record.
both that record (USC & FSU wins), and number of non-conf top 50 matches is a very good case for Hawaii. now being an at-large would mean either another top 50 loss (to UCSB) or top 100 loss (to Cal Poly or Beach).
still the RPI #s aren't great, beating Cal POly is key, since simply adding UCSB as an opponent and the boost UCSB will give to RPI would help, beating Cal POly would be a must though.
I don't get why Baylor should be such a shoe-in for an at-large when one compares the two resumes, I get Baylor has the higher RPI (due to losing to good teams) some good wins and plays in a tougher conference, but so does Hawaii have solid wins, and Hawaii's win % in top 50 and top 100 is so much better. not saying Baylor is a poor choice, and they have the case based on top 100, just there's not a vast difference. Hawaii must win today though. it may be only a top 100 win, but they have to have it.
anyway, the Hawaii-Poly match should be a battle - both vacillate between elite play and some rather long funks
winner of the established female coaches side of the bracket (Robyn vs. Walters) to play the winner of the newbie male coaches bracket (Hildebrand vs. JOnes) in the finale
