The Wahine offense finished strong hitting .330 to the Beach's .123 and outgunned the Beach by a lot with 44 kills to 29 kills. I believe Hawaii only committed 7 more hitting errors after the 1st set with 3 of those being courtesy of the LB block. The Wahine serve and block held the Beach down, tallying 6 aces and 11 blocks (I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT THE BLOCKING!) while the Beach managed only 3 blocks and surprisingly, 0 aces. Amber was the woman among girls with 16 kills hitting .522 and 3 blocks. Her counterpart, Kennedi Evans, had 7 kills and hit .778! Caylen and Tayli provided the floor defense with 10 and 9 digs respectively. Caylen looked like a young Kim Willoughby out there playing floor defense and covering tons of ground laterally! Congrats to the Beach for improving on their 2022 finish and for reaching the championship match. I believe that Tyler and Co will continue to improve and start taking these NCAA bids along with UCSB, CP and Hawaii. I think this win and the tournament will help the Big West teams as there is a postseason feel to it. Hawaii will no doubt have to travel far (by default) and will probably face a tough subregional matchup. In my opinion, this was the best Wahine performance post-COVID and one of the best performances by a RAM coached team. LETS GO BOWS! Very well said on every point. The only thing I want to comment on, and you nailed it when you said she looked like a young Kim Willoughby, is the defensive play of Caylen Alexander. How clutch was she in this tournament? Key blocks at key times, and all over that back court digging balls right and left. Props to her. I am so excited for her future.

All the difficulties this team and these coaches faced all year long, with the rotating OH position from match to match, made it all worth it here at the conclusion of conference play, winning the first ever Big West Conference Tournament. I mean, how special is that? I hope everyone who trashed this team and some of its players learn a lesson in humility from this. Let the team grow and find its own. This Wahine team sure did. Hats off to the coaches for seeing this through and guiding this team to peak performance when it counts, and to each and every player who drowned out the noise and improved their game and shined when it counted the most. Now on to he Big Dance. GO BOWS! I said at the beginning of the season that I thought this was a very good Wahine team. They don't have a bail out hitter, but they have shown they can do everything else as well as Wahine teams of old- passing, blocking, digging, transitioning. Okay, they don't serve that well, but if they play as a cohesive unit they can be very good. I look forward to seeing what kind of run they make in the NCAAs!

So happy for the Bows! Never gave up on you girls! We battled it out on the boards here but I can collectively say even those that once doubted these girls....they stand shoulder to shoulder as well as we all say "GO BOWS!"

But what really caught my eye was how quickly Caylen covers ground laterally. She's doesn't make the best defensive reads yet but she was flying sideline to sideline to make up for that. Mother Kim is gagged.

I would be curious to see the passing numbers once they post.

With Hawaii's win versus Long Beach, Hawaii's RPI vaulted up to 49. This added two more top 50 wins for UCSB's resume (for a 4-1 top 50 record), and UCSB should definitely be a lock for an at-large bid

Congrats to the Beach for their season. It didn't end the way they wanted, but they are on track to be a great team in the future. They are returning amazing outside hitters and a very good setter. So glad they found the right coach. Lets hope the Beach and Hawaii continue to improve and build on the great tradition both programs have enjoyed over the life of the sport.

Congrats to our Wahine! Way to show up and way to put it all together! Our young ladies were "swinging their purses" as some on here like to say. And congrats to the Beach on a terrific season! That last set was horrible for them but in their defense they did play two 5-setters in 3 days so their legs must have been jelly! On to the NCAA's! GO BOWS!

LB next season is going to be really good…they have the firepower and the setter.

LB next season is going to be really good…they have the firepower and the setter. They will certainly be back. I predict LBSU, Cal Poly and Hawaii competing for that title next year. UCSB in the mix as well.

And they beat Hawaii in 3 so coaching can’t be all bad…right? But I’m definitely not in the know. Would love to hear more though.

I would've taken the chance, and just died by the decision, and subbed out Chacon in the third set at the libero position. Just put in a DS in the jersey at the start of the set. Like the DS couldn't have done worse than Chacon. I'm shocked Tyler didn't make the change, it was the one thing that was killing them all match.
If I am hiding my libero in service receive, whats the point of even having a libero on the court, much less that libero in hiding.

Up until that interview, I only saw the scary side of Walters. 😄 The Big West in good hands with her, Jones, Hildebrand and Robyn. there's a scary side of Walters? based on what? It was only a joke - that why I said " ". And truthfully, if Walters got in my face at Ralph's because I had 12 items in the "10 Items or Less" line, I'd be scared.
