The silver lining in an otherwise stress ridden game is that Kennedy is going to have a rough time going the whole way tomorrow. But there won’t be a tomorrow obviously if they don’t win today. The softball game had vibes of the Tennessee VB game i was thinking the exact same thing

Softball with an epic 5 run 6th inning to keep our college World Series hopes alive. Also it would be a pretty big blow to our Director Cup hopes to have our #1 seed softball team exit in the super regionals. Along with the fact I would prefer not to lose to A&M. It wouldn't be that big. Texas has to face plant across multiple more sports while stanford went crazy in all their remaining ones. Projection wise, TExas is at 1406 right now. Losing tomorrow in softball would only lower that to 1370. Stanford is at 1303. I see Stanford lost in the PAC 12 baseball tournament, so that helps. I was concerned they might actually make an unlikely run in baseball after looking like they wouldn’t even make the postseason.

the 6-2 was eating them UP yesterday. a 6-2 also gives us our best serving lineup. we do that, we can just stick with swindle/devin when we run out of subs. swindle is uber physical at the net and devin's defense is good. hypothetically we could even make it where devin passes when she's in and madi's backrow to open up the bic, but that might be too complicated lol Skinner/Wenaas (DS Akana) Mari/Ames Swindle/Devin (Carlson/Rutherford) Halter is a banging lineup with a serving gauntlet of Skinner/Akana/Mari/Halter/Swindle/Averi Maybe it works so well and they're so dominant they never have enough rotations to run out of subs? Well, all it takes is one set to make a difference. Just ask Nebraska two years ago in the Sweet 16 against Oregon.

I was concerned they might actually make an unlikely run in baseball after looking like they wouldn’t even make the postseason. The nail in the coffin certainly helped. Stanford already has 1263 points in the bag. Softball can only increase that score by up to 36 points. Rowing can only increase it by up to 36 as well. Stanford is very unlikely to be good enough in Men's Golf or in track this year to raise their score any more. So Stanford has a probable max score of 1335 and probable range between 1294 and 1330. Texas only has 1045 in the bag at this point. But baseball will add 25-64 (or more), Men's Golf will add 10-30 more points (or more), Rowing will add 90-100, Softball will add up to 36 more points, and the track teams may add up 120-150 more at the end. So that's 245 to 380 more points that would put Texas at a total of between 1290 and 1425. Texas is on track to win. They have a much higher upside than Stanford. They could go and beat them by almost 150 points if things go really well over the next two weeks. Texas has their fate in their own hands and there's nothing Stanford can do about it if Texas doesn't let them. But they got to go do it on the field of play.

After seeing the instagram lives from last week, I feel like Reagan beats out Devin currently. Reagan had a set where she scored 8-9 points and just took over the match very much like Madi! I would love to see them both playing 6 rotations since the back row attacks would be beautiful, lethal, and truly a sight to see! I feel like the only locks for starters next year are: OH - Madi MB - Mari L - Emma DS - Akana OPP - Reagan
I don’t know the battle between Ayden and Nya but I presume the idea is to have Nya start so Ayden can redshirt since we went and got Soah and Jerritt loves redshirting his freshman - I understand. Was nya injured during the spring or what caused her to not play during spring ball or has Ayden just outperformed her entirely? Also, can someone give me an update on Ayden? How good is she? She looks so dynamic and lethal from that slide attack. “Slide princess” maybe?! The tournament gave me all the confidence in the world for jenna but could someone like Jordyn take her spot? I don’t think so… but I’m also not too sure. Jordyn’s upside is staggering I feel. I can also see her becoming a Destinee type player by year 5! Then there’s helmers! Some of the videos and lives have shown she’s getting back into her grove after her junior year concussion. I could see him redshirting her again since last year might have been a “medical redshirt” year and he can actually just redshirt her now…? Who knows, but she’s powerful as well. I also think with these wealth of riches, Jerritt should redshirt Devin so she can have 2 full years where she’s our 6 rotation opposite the way he’s redshirting Whitney. The backup opposite could be Auburn for the stronger block. Lastly, the setter battle… that one stresses me out the most. Do you go with the only fourth freshman setter in the history of the NCAA to lead their team to a national championship or the “elite” setter that runs the tempo like nobody’s business?! My initial inclination is Ella… but Averi could give Ella a year to redshirt and learn from her…? But then we sacrifice height and the block of Ella… my head hurts. Those are my thoughts! What do you guys think? I also haven’t been able to see the games from this week just the instagram videos they post. Would love to have other people’s insight on what they’re seeing from the team.

I don’t think Ayden sits out this season. Didn’t JE say something in the spring about her looking the most ready of any freshman we’ve ever had? Or did I imagine that? lol If I were betting I’d say Mari and Ayden start with Nya subbing in occasionally. I have no idea where to put Sarah since I’ve never seen her play.

I follow Nebraska volleyball and this came across from Troy Dannen, their AD. It's about getting contributions to the 1890 Initiative, some NIL thing where 100% of your contributions go directly to student-athletes. You can pick the sport to contribute to. Does Texas have something comparable? www.1890nebraska.com/make-a-contribution/

I don’t think we’ll run a 6-2. I think we’ll go with Carlson, however, hear me out. If we get stuck with Carlson up front late in sets, we’ll see a setter substitution. I’m not ruling out a double-sub, however that doesn’t maximize Swindle’s strengths which are blocking and dumping. I’d prefer to see a 5-2 if Avery is being worked on the block. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see a DK sub for one of the pins when Reagan and Jenna are swapped the way Nebraska did that one year.

Was Molly forced into starting the same way Chi was? Can’t remember
