Need to think in terms on how to make our outsides more successful, no matter who they are. As mentioned by others; 1) be less predictable. Better serve receive opens up other options and then our setter needs to use them. 2) setter be more aggressive on taking it over on 2. Gotta make their middle blocker hold to open up for our pins, 3) get the ball off the net on out of system sets from non setters. Yes, very obvious solutions, but all will bring better opportunities for our hitters.

I'm probably going to be dramatic here, but the two losses remind me of the 2019 tournament games (UCSB and Louisville), where it felt like Texas just didn't have the same energy as their opponent. That's really the main thing that has worried me with these games, since I have faith the connections, communication, and all the technical stuff will come together. The good news is there's plenty of time for a leader to emerge. Maybe this is the next progression of Madi Skinner—being the leader Logan, Asjia, and Molly were in years past. Maybe someone else fills that role. Or maybe UT takes advantage of Khat Bell playing for LOVB Austin and she gives the team pep talks in the locker room during every game. 😅 I don’t think that’s dramatic, there is absolutely a similar energy (or lack thereof). The void left by so many of the previous leaders is very evident. It’s a unique situation where all of our seniors this year are transfers and the lack of continuity there doesn’t help either. How often is it that there are no 4th or 5th year players in the program? The most experienced in the system are 3rd year players in Singletary, Skinner, Halter, Kahahawai, and Akana (edit- and Miller!). I don’t know what the ceiling this year can be, but I do know we have more talent than what our team’s performance would suggest so far. Regardless of the end of season result, I just want us to play better volleyball moving forward.

Good that Stanford is at 2 so we can perform a good upset and get higher!

I would say #6 seems a bit high right now but there aren’t really any obvious choices to be ahead of us yet either. Early season polls are always hard to really extrapolate much from.

Yeah, it involved lining up for Point Texas club almost an hour in advance... I'm going to try to do it again on Weds. Luckily the game doesn't start until 8pm so I'll probably be able to get there in time. If I can get a spare I'll auction it off to whomever makes the biggest donation to Texas One fund. It's nice that they changed the metal and design, *especially* having the set scores on there. 11 pts lives forever!

I have 3 tickets, 3 point Texas passes and 1 Parking pass for the game Wednesday night. Please let me know if you want them. You just have to give one of the rings to katn.

I didn't go looking until you mentioned it. And to have the symbol of corn on the losing side......CHEF'S KISS.

The team should embrace Swindle.
1) She's a proven winner. She earned the spot.
2) She is an energy and enthusiasm generator. Last year energy was generated by Asjia and Ella. Asjia's gone. Now it should be Ella.
Averi is a good setter but she is more of a "cool, calm and collected" personality. Not an enthusiasm generator.
This dumb scheme they have now is deflating. Ella can't be expected to lead in a situation where she is in-and out and looking over her shoulder all the time.
It's the opposite of empowering.
It's a chemistry-killer.
Eff your stats.
Empower your leaders.
