JE I love this for you, but can we keep our heads focused on this year? Next year’s attendance records can work themselves out in January.

Here are some thoughts on the team so far that no one asked for: -glad we’re trying(and should stick to) the 6-2 -I think while Wenaas is inconsistent in putting the ball away, her other qualities keep her on the floor. I wish she would throw the ball(the Logan special) a little sometimes instead of the two handed push. That diving save in the LSU game when she was playing right back or middle back is why you leave her on the floor. -I’m so happy Devin is bulldozing her way into the lineup. She looks confident and ready to swing. I wish Averi would set her a little more but that will come with time. I want to see her hit the edges of the block more intentionally. -Glad we got Akana back in the serving lineup and back on the floor. -Madi is going to turn it up, I have no doubt. -Rutherford is hot and cold and I wonder if she will find a way to steady out. We’ve seen her take over a game but can she do it when the rest of her team needs her to step up when the other OHs aren’t producing. -Middles seem to be working well in front of the setter, started to see a slide with Ames which is exciting. The blocking is dialing up too but I think we are getting faked out too often. Do they watch the setter more intently? Or is it a timing issue? -Are we gonna see more of Whitney or anyone else on the bench make an impact in the lineup? -The biggest thing this team is going to have to do is let of go ego(not that there was much to begin with) and focus on the collective. We can’t just rely on Skinner to take us to the end. Halter is going to be key. Both of the middles have to work on their lateral movement to close the block more efficiently. Can the rest of our team rise to the occasion? I believe we can 🤘

Of our core 10 players (6 hitters, 2 setters, 2 liberos), 5 are new starters and 3 have zero to negligible match experience. On top of that, the only player out of those 10 in the same role as last year is Halter
It’ll take time

I believe we can 🤘 I can't say this with certainty, but Texas has always been a "left-handed" team in that they default to sending a ball to the left pin hitter. Years of very productive left pins make that the go-to spot. But lately, when Wenaas is on the left, we're yelling out "no not to the left!" And I'm not just talking about the setters, I'm talking about everyone doing an emergency set/bump. True that sometimes the middle or the right isn't quite in a good spot (because they're used to the ball most likely going left?) and Wennas is just there on the left....they send it to her. 1/3 hitting in the block. 1/3 tip. 1/3 hitting it between the block.

She really needs to develop her OOS shot selection more...she's not going to beat the block, power through it, or hit over it, so not sure why she keeps hitting directly into it. And she uses that 2-hand push too frequently...
