That's true. I was including pre conference. My bad. I just don't like player bashing after a loss. My personal belief is there should be more individual player subs, but with the opp & setter subs that doesn't seem possible, as we ran out of subs in the one set. I guess we miss Barnes more than we thought. We have Miller, Byrd and Helmers who might be able to play OH. Lauenstein is back to being a red shirt. Maybe switch Kahahawai & Wennas? Coaches have their reasons. Lets hope it works out for team Texas. helmers is in a boot

Pre-season was chaotic because they couldn't settle on a lineup. Switched to a 6-2 for the past 9 games and have been very good in it—Singletary and Kahahawai especially have excelled. Skinner has had some rough offensive games, particularly with errors, but I'd say she's been more good than bad recently.
They've had match point in 2 of their losses (Miami and A&M) and couldn't convert. Obv not a good look, but win those 2 match points and maybe people see them as a top 5 team. (A sus top 5, but they'd be in good company.) The team has a lot of potential, but they're still searching for their final form. Hopefully they find it in the second half of SEC play, going into the tournament. This is what concerns me most is having match points (multiple) and not converting. Time and time again, we've been unable to stop large runs by other teams. A&M had several 4-0+ runs. Stanford also had multiple 5-0 runs that we couldn't stop. Agreed. It's frustrating because we're losing in mostly the same way—Minnesota, Miami, and A&M all feel similar. I think some of it's mental, and some of it comes down to making better choices in big moments. At least no one can say Texas is peaking early. 😅

But I do agree more in-the-moment subs will help. Also, the 6-2 has allowed players to share the load, except for Jenna who has a ton of responsibility in the lineup. I'd love the coaches to find ways to help her when needed.

we all don't like losing but blaming 1 or 2 players doesn’t quite seem fair...there were lots of errors to go around...hoping the coaching staff & the team can figure it out...it felt like we got served off the court last nite (or maybe it was a dream)...we also let logan go off (not just a little)...lots of lost opportunities to close it out last nite
hoping for more connectedness & cohesion the next time the horns play

my thoughts: - play madi 6 ro and let her get into a passing rhythm. not to mention not only unleashing the best backrow attack in the country, but the best ADJUSTER to the backrow set. i know y'all saw her put that damn ball in places you didn't even know existed in last year's tourney when the set wasn't there (i.e. fast bent elbow tip to zone 2 past the setter/opp and in front of the right-back defender) - it's time to abolish this experimental 6-2. ella flopping on levels that i fear are far worse than last year... the Orr serving sub special must be assigned to her im afraid... lowkey i miss her serving and i think the team needs her energy for that one rotation - akana serving sub for jenna's backrow so that akana can send those moonballs of a second contact to madi who 1) likes them and 2) will actually try to hit them unlike oomf... - previous point brings me to the next one: akana love you but please GET OUT OF THE DAMN WAY if carlson can get to that ball. i don't care that you're the closest to the pass. if it's high enough, let carlson work her bump set magic so that madi can use that spin on said bump set to her advantage. IMO those are so much easier to hit correctly. this team isn't last year's team, you don't need to step in for ella 1-2x a rally anymore to get our hitters a decent set... same goes with emma lowkey, sorry girl but your OOS setting hasn't been quite the same since Logan... 😔 - mari, keep adjusting to the sets better. you're on the right track girl - ames, i still think you're suffering from shin splints but i like your consistency and energy. a good MB1/MB2 balance for sure. bunton you're a bit skiddish but also understandable. but i don't want to see skiddish from anyone at this point in the season - i want to see this mid-season carlson setting connection with reagan. i think that's one thing ella has over carlson, but also the ella-reagan connection was very ugly when i was watching earlier in the match... i think reagan should be kept on a short leash, bring in devin when she's not killing bc she definitely won't be contributing elsewhere (i.e. blocking/aces) - unfortunately, jenna needs different sets than madi/reagan/devin. if she's feeling herself, she pounds that ball cross or line ONLY WHEN the set is both INSIDE and FAST because she has a problem of an early approach. i saw this many times IN-PERSON at last year's championship match. i was honestly astonished at how fast she was trying to approach when the setting strat obviously wasn't to go that fast.... you can see her falling backwards because of it/getting stuffed/two-handed tipping bc of this. i don't understand why she's still doing it bc obviously they learn and practice the system they run *shrugs* - the passing needs to be better. period Yall lost alot of great players and leadership last year…so its no surprise that this year would be up and down…and Texas fans make too manu excuses for Jenna…she aint it…dont expect her to turn it on in the tourney just sayin…and Madi is a great attacker in the backrow but Parra is just as good especially this year Why are you bringing up Parra?

It was domino effect. No passing...no middles. We had it and A&M capitalized at the end when it was Devin, a freshman MB, and Jenna were in there.

In downtown Austin rn and I’ve heard about 3 convos brining up yesterdays match, all talking about how “that was better than the football game”, “that was too fun” & “are the divers there every game?”. It’s nice to know the L isn’t even the main takeaway. Volleyball on a real come up!
We should bring in some alumni for a little mid-season pep talk though lol

I knew Emma was doing so much in passing. But every time I see the numbers, I'm amazed.
