Not quite as troubled and the reason is Texas didn’t lose 3 in a row at home to A&M, Missouri and OU on a fluke. All 3 of those teams have better volleyball rosters than Texas. When is the last time UT lost three games in a row? I’m not sure they have since I started watching volleyball in 2010 according to my mom, the last time Texas lost 3 consecutive home matches was 1994 This is correct - when Gregory was worn down and they played home matches at the Rec Center. This is also the first Texas Volleyball team to ever lose three straight conference home matches. It’s a real mess. |

Looking ahead, I see next game is Wed @ Miss State. Looking at MSU's record, they're 10-8. Okay. But they just swept A&M. Wait. What?

Texas was fortunate to get them to a 5th set. Only thing left is to hope they keep playing hard. I don't know believe that's true. It's not like Texas didn't win at A&M in four sets earlier in conference play. We were up on each of those three teams 2 sets to 1; so, "fortunate" doesn't hold water. We never got down 2 sets to none. A&M had more kills, aces, digs and assist. Missouri had more kills, aces and assist. OU had more kills, blocks, assist and digs. None of that is a fluke. Is the margin great? No but Texas fails to consistently put service pressure on teams, is out of system way too much, is a bad out of system hitting team, some of that is hitting and some is setting by all setters. One of the OH has averaged 7 kills a match in those 3 losses. The out of system setting and attacking difference has been significant, honestly OU was startling. I hope they do better, it all starts with the serve and pass. In the two sets Texas won vs OU they won that battle but when they don’t they don’t have the talent differential to make up for it as they have in years past. |

So what is the issue? Clearly serve and pass, but it feels like we just don’t have help on the pins for Skinner. I mean Rutherford is great, but when I watched the match today it just felt like she wasn’t as high-scoring as she can be, and Wenaas like we need to find something there like she is giving us nothing. My issue is why have ALLLLL this talent on the bench (Lauenstein, Helmers, Bryd, Kahahawai, Miller, Tompkinson) and not even use them. Where is Binney? Her serve if I remember correctly is pretty darn good. It just doesn’t feel like a roster of 20 when it’s the same people every game and we CONTINUE to struggle

I never have the desire to see Emma in middle back again btw. if we want Emerick on the court, fine, but seriously put her in middle back and if she can’t play middle back, then she doesn’t deserve to be on the court. Jenna was doing just fine back there. I think a solution for Jenna front row would be more desirable than her back row (if we stay in the 5-1).
I’d also love to know JE’s thought process on not starting Mari. could’ve been the reason we didn’t straight up sweep…

Only thing on Mari I could think of was a discipline issue and if that is the case I doubt the fans will ever know. |

She had 2 kills in set 4 and 5. |
