I know this has probably been discussed to death in here but I am a Wisconsin fan so don't read this regularly do haven't seen that discussion. But is there a general consensus who is in the lead for starting setter next year? IS there any chance of a 2 setter system? sorry if this is annoying tbh I have no clue lol, I wanna say Carlson has a slight edge but 🤷‍♂️ weird because Carlson is obviously the better setter but Swindle does everything else better imo. might just depend on our passing Is there any advantage to a system where swindle plays front row for her blocking and Carlson plays back row?

I don't see why we would start with a 5-2 as the fixed game plan. You may as well just play a 5-1 with Averi and then sub Ella in if Averi is being abused on the block. The difference in setting skill isn't *that* big. IMO 5-1 is more likely than 6-2 and both are more likely than a 5-2

But I think that happens if Carlson’s block gets abused. We’ll see though! I think we learned our lesson when Ella got hurt during the season last year so we’re just making sure we’re good to go in case she would ever go down for a while. We’ll be covered with Carson.

Fewer subs? You’re just subbing in Swindle for Carlson instead of running a double sub like Wisconsin last year. But then you lose the opportunity to always have 3 attackers in the front row. And Texas has a LOT of high quality pin depth that can’t see the court anyway. I have no idea what Elliott has in mind regarding the setter position. It’s an interesting question.

I can't seem to find the post someone made about JE talking to both Ella and her parents before pursuing Carlson, and Ella saying to go get her. But I loved hearing that - it says so much about everyone involved. Mutual respect, no big egos, eyes on the prize. The chemistry on this team is great and it shows

Wasn't one of the reasons why she transferred to Texas in the first place was because she was sold on being the next " franchise player" for one of the most visible collegiate volleyball programs in the country? She didn’t even want to come to Texas at first. It was Elliot who said she has the potential to become a franchise player. Secondly, there’s a time and place for everything. She has gone to plenty of tournaments. Even some that I saw her in and had taken pictures. However, she hardly gets to see her little sister play volleyball better yet see her sister in general. If they see her with her family watching her sister, they should respect that. Seeing her with her family is totally different from seeing her with her teammates at tournaments.

She probably doesn't get that many opportunities so I'm sure it means a lot to both her and Jada. Family is important!
