I'm probably going to be dramatic here, but the two losses remind me of the 2019 tournament games (UCSB and Louisville), where it felt like Texas just didn't have the same energy as their opponent. That's really the main thing that has worried me with these games, since I have faith the connections, communication, and all the technical stuff will come together. The good news is there's plenty of time for a leader to emerge. Maybe this is the next progression of Madi Skinner—being the leader Logan, Asjia, and Molly were in years past. Maybe someone else fills that role. Or maybe UT takes advantage of Khat Bell playing for LOVB Austin and she gives the team pep talks in the locker room during every game. 😅

if Whitney is in fact redshirting who is the next OH off the bench if Jenna is struggling offensively and has to be pulled? I mean assuming Devin is only playing OPP is it Byrd?

I might be in the minority, but in my opinion, our biggest issues have not been defensive (in fact, this seems to be some of the best floor defense I’ve seen from Texas in a LONG time), but offensive. We don’t have anyone that has consistently put the ball down in transition in our two losses. That to me is where someone like Whitney could help us over Wenaas. Especially since Skinner’s BIC has been eh so far - we don’t need to hide her in SR in the back if her back row attack isn’t terminal. exactly. I feel like Wenaas’ defense has actually been better than Barnes’ was (granted, Carissa was a FAR superior passer). I don’t even *hate* the idea of using Wenaas as a “little” if need be. we just frankly can not survive with her front row unless we have full faith in Madi to do what she did last tournament again every. single. tournament. match. what’s scary is there’s no Asjia either, so would that version of Madi even be enough to win the natty this season again? I’m not sure. I think I’m becoming more and more team 6-2 which I never thought I’d say. our blocking HAS to be better and we need more offense in transition In a 6-2, where would Akana play? Would she DS for Jenna? And Madi would be passing all 6 rotations? I would hate to see us run out of subs in a set and then Akana be hitting on the left.... or would I?

I’d prefer Swindle/Devin for Swindle’s blocking and Devin’s floor defense but seriously, either would work. super unique situation. not something 2022 Nebraska or 2022/2023 Wisconsin really had

anyone know how the ring replica giveaway on Wednesday will work or how it was handled last season? First 500 people, they say. I have no idea if it's given away at one location or not (since there are multiple points of entry into Greg).

1. penn state 5-0 2. stanford 4-0 3. pittsburgh 3-0 4. louisville 5-1 5. nebraska 5-1 6. purdue 6-0 7. creighton 5-0 8. kentucky 5-2 9. texas 2-2 10. oregon 5-1
*it could go either way for penn st or stanford @ #1

Help me out as I am still learning the game here—the coach cannot approach the up official- the team captain has to do that. What was the difference when-I believe the 4th set- the Miami coach yelled across court to the up official and they went back and forth? Not supposed to happen. I was waiting for the yellow card to come out. JE does this A LOT. Reference the NC game and the yellow (David Hunt with up judge), then Red card (JE with down judge). I was expecting it as well. Miami coach kept arguing with the down judge and stepping across the attack line. JE even signaled to the up judge when they were switching sides that there should have been a card.

We went in the main entrance for it last year and they handed you a ring as your ticket was scanned. Not sure how it was handled at any other entrances though.

Both very experienced officials, both international officials where the coaches are definitely restricted in their interactions. Understand why Jerritt would be concerned.

I would assume if Whitney is redshirting, Devin is clearly the first pin off the bench for either pin. if we weren’t comfortable with her playing outside, there’s no way in hell we’d be redshirting Whitney

I wonder if he rethinks that with another scare. It’s not like the rest of our schedule is out of the woods. Plans are plans, sure, but he broke his plans for chi once upon a time. Idk

I do trust Elliott, but it is seeming like we really need a more terminal outside opposite of Skinner. Heck, right now, we need a more terminal outside in place of Skinner. Whether that is Whitney or not is not information I am privy to, but I would love to see a change somewhere with the outsides. Plus, Wenaas is not exactly lighting it up in serve receive in the front row, which I feel like is one of the main reasons she is in there.
