wow! what a coming out party for Devin. that’s by FAR the best she’s ever played in a Longhorn jersey and I really hope it wasn’t just because it was against Hawaii lol.
Carlson was exceptional tonight. the amount of 1-on-1s she got Jenna was otherworldly and big, BIG props to Jenna for just pummeling the ball in those situations.
Ella struggled mightily tonight. I still don’t think she sets Rutherford very well and her sets to the outside are incredibly loopy. but, I still think the 6-2, for now, is the best use of our personnel. Carlson has WAY outplayed Swindle though imo these last two matches, and that’s with the “worse” opposite (and two rotations of front row Wenaas right?), so if the staff does want to go back to a 5-1, I think you’d have to give the nod to Averi *as of right now*
this was probably the best offensively match for the middles. they were both on fire (combined 15-1-28, .500!). still looking for more consistency on offense and blocking from them, but they’re both new starters so that’s expected

Well, they are 5-3 to start out the season- sound familiar?

Hopefully tonight solves the question about who should actually be the starting setter in a 5-1.

Fun match to watch. As the match progressed, it sure seemed like most of the great offensive plays were when Carlson was dishing. Stats have Carlson with 33 assists, and Swindle with 16 assists. I'm guessing that's in large part because of the service runs which occurred when Carlson was on the court, especially when she herself was serving. Or, did we ever transition into a 5-1 offense and I just missed it?

Well, they are 5-3 to start out the season- sound familiar? Too many service errors, too few blocks for us, too many blocks against us. But trending upwards, we like to see it

Hopefully tonight solves the question about who should actually be the starting setter in a 5-1. She had Jenna Wenaas looking like Gabi and Kahahawai looking like Melissa Vargas. Hopefully Carlson earned everyone’s respect last night. The assist and dig numbers this week between the two should say a lot.

this might not be 100% correct but it’s VERY close if it’s not
when Carlson was on the court, we were 58-38 in points when Swindle was on the court, we were 40-37 in points
that doesn’t mean that if carlson was front row that we would’ve been better than 40-37, but just wanted to confirm my suspicions about the offense

Averi leading the match in assists while in a 6-2 is such a slay. I really love how the 6-2 is allowing everyone to get comfortable. Madi and Reagan came up big on Wednesday, Jenna and Devin today.

Anyone know why Madi isn’t playing 6 ro? I know she’s not the best defensively but I’m just surprised to see her be ds’d even with the 6-2
