I'd much rather play Penn State than Louisville, even though winning on the road in Rec Hall has been really difficult this year We've never won at State College, PA, I don't think (maybe we beat Florida there in the Nike Challenge). PSU swept Louisville at home early in the season. Nothing would be sweeter than knocking out Louisville on their home court (like they did to us in 2019) and keeping them from advancing to the Final Four where they are the host school; plus, we would get an opportunity to defend our national title at the YUM Center where Coach Elliott won his first championship in 2012. Regardless of who gets sent to the Louisville regional, there will be a lot of pressure on the Cardinals to make it to the Final Four in their home city.

Of the four likely regional hosts (Pitt/Neb/Louis/Penn State), Penn State looks to be the most vulnerable right now. That is where I would want to play.

You can go crazy looking at all the different possibilities. Remember. The committee has certain guidelines, several arbitrarily written to give them flexi bility. I use to pull my hair out forecasting matchups, guessing where I might officiate, what schools would be there. And never got it right. Sit back, relax and know Texas will win 2 at home then have exciting. Competitive matches whereever they go.

It really doesn't affect our RPI as we beat both played both of those teams and beat MSU. It actually knocks Mizzou out of a first place tie in the SEC with Kentucky, Florida, and Texas. If Mizzou can beat Kentucky (not likely on how they played this weekend), there's a 3-way tie for the SEC title and we get the auto-bid (not that it matters).

And, PSU starts a true freshman setter. But, I think the odds are very high that Penn State and Stanford are the two highest seeded teams in a possible Penn State regional. That means any 3 or 4 seed sent to that regional has to beat both of them to advance.

But now they need more than luck for that to happen.

Only 4 teams were in a realistic fight for the title; now there are three. www.secsports.com/standings/volleyball
