Patiently waiting for SFA article on how they still deserved their bid even though Arkansas made them look like a JV team Crowd-sourced first round win!

I think SFA acquitted themselves well with their best hitter out. At this point, with a little hindsight and consideration, the Sun Belt love looks a lot worse than SFA getting in.

At least they weren't down 2 of their main offensive options (like one of the Sun Belt teams was). But IDK, I still think it wasn't SFA's level of play, it was the premise that you should have to beat *someone* to make the tournament. Sun Belt gamed RPI + won a few non-conf games that made it seem to me the committee wouldn't *ding* them like they did the Horizon League a few years back. There was a case for a 3-4 bid Horizon League, but, they only rewarded the team who actually won in non-conference.

Idk what the committee was trying to prove this year. Kansas state or NC state would have at least made it a match. Unbelievable. Feel bad for those players.

Should we get rid of automatic qualifiers?

I like the automatic qualifiers. It's a big deal to go to the tournament, even with a quick first-round exit. But, I think you should have to have wins against top 50 teams to get an at large.
Also, has there ever been a team that wasn't a top 16 seed team win?

Also, has there ever been a team that wasn't a top 16 seed team win? To answer the question rhetorically, it doesn't matter. Each stage of the tournament is a mini-tournament. For a small school to get past the first weekend is a huge deal. And for auto qualifiers, if there was money for it I'd say that having auto qualifiers play each other, say on Tuesday/Wednesday, would be a great idea. But it would cost either the NCAA or those school a lot of money which wouldn't be recouped by attendance most likely, so I think it's a no. After all, the big reason the NCAA has 1 seeds host the second weekend is that the attendance will be higher than at neutral sites.
