I had not either! They have been nationally good for quite a while. They have been! Looking back a 10 years, they have had a bit of a mixed bag in the tournament. 1 Final, 1 Elite 8, 2 Sweet 16s, 3 Second Rounds, 2 First Rounds and 1 year where they didn't qualify. This 2023 team is definitely special for the Oregon program! 2012 - NCAA Final 2013 - Second Round 2014 - Sweet 16 2015 - First Round 2016 - Second Round 2017 - Second Round 2018 - Elite 8 2019 - DNQ *2020 - Sweet 16 2021 - First Round 2022 - Elite 8 Wahine in comparison. 1 Elite 8, 1 Sweet 16, 6 Second Rounds, 3 First Rounds and they did not play in the 2020 season. In 12 seasons, Hawaii has finished in the round of 32 6 times. 2012 - Second Round 2013 - Second Round 2014 - Second Round 2015 - Elite 8 2016 - Second Round 2017 - First Round 2018 - First Round 2019 - Sweet 16 *2020 - DNP 2021 - Second Round 2022 - First Round 2023 - Second Round

Congrats to Oregon, at the of the day, they were the better team. They are kind of like Minnesota in the sense that they have always been on the edges of being Natty champs but haven’t been able to get off the schnide and finally win. Maybe this is their year as i thought they looked like one of the best teams in the country but seeing as how they weren’t able to be Pac12 champs, not sure if they have what it takes to enter the same air as Stanford, UCLA, USC. Either way, congrats to them and congratulations on finishing stronger than last season to the Wahine, so many doubters all season long and they were able to prove them wrong, go the farthest of all Big West teams despite so many eyes being on The Beach. Will miss the seniors, especially Amber, but excited to open up a new chapter in Wahine volleyball next season. It may seem that they have been on the cusp but they went to one final where they swept by Texas.

They’ve definitely been knocking on the door but unfortunately have only been in that group that’s only ever been knocking. I think my biggest bit of sadness with this game is that Onye never got another matchup with Amber.

Also, I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but is volleyball not popular in Oregon? It looked like no one was there…

Well, well...well....Wahine gets smoked!!.... just kidding, and I'm not gonna start any %*$# today. Will echo what many have said. The outcome was really never in doubt, but I watched the first two sets before heading out to watch Godzilla Minus One (freaken bad ass movie... go see it) and even though Hawaii lost that first set, I was pleased with their overall play. They hustled, they played scrappy, and they just couldn't hold onto that lead long enough.
The second set came, and the passing broke down, and Hawaii just couldn't handle the pressure and fire power of Oregon.
There is nothing to be ashamed of. Only Big West team to advance past the first round.
I have ragged on Wagoner for years and part of me still feel the same, but I have the utmost respect for her as she stated she always wanted to be a Wahine from the get go and she made it happen and she stuck around.... I'll give her props for that. Too bad she wasn't more terminal as an OH.
I'm sure Robyn will get a few transfers as she usually does. Wonder if anyone will leave.
Anyways.... Mahalo to the seniors for sticking around.
Side joke... the other day, my uncle screenshots a picture and says "finally, Hawaii getting some height for next year..." and I replied...."she's been with the team all season already...".... it was Paula Gershing...

Also, I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but is volleyball not popular in Oregon? It looked like no one was there… The Oregon football team played Washington in the PAC-12 Championship game today. For volleyball, Oregon is ranked 10th in the country with an average of 3,325. They are 18th in cumulative attendance with 36,573 and 11 dates played.

Didn’t get the chance to watch the match but just looking at the box score it was obvious that the Wahines passing broke down.. Caylen with 46 attempts and Amber only 11, sad to see Amber go out without having much of an impact against top level competition.. we all knew Oregon was going to win, just wish it was more competitive after that first set.

Oh, and the 2015 team got sent to Madison to play the Badgers in the first round! Badgers got eliminated by Florida in a very close match in Austin in the Sweet 16. Then, the match that made replay happen was in the regional finals! Without an abysmally bad line call, Florida is at match point versus Texas, but, no, and Texas rallied to win! A full volleyball could have been put between where the ball in question landed and the end line.

I feel like Onye would of cooked the Wahine more than Bacon

Also, I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but is volleyball not popular in Oregon? It looked like no one was there… The court gives them seizures. Even Oregon's biggest newspaper has taken to cropping photos so as not to show that floor and have more of their declining readership cancel their subscriptions. But the attendance was not bad, 2,342. That's less than their season average. But I'm sure a lot of Duck Faithful were at home watching the Oregon/Washington FB game (The final PAC12 football game ever) which was played at the same time as the VB match. Hey, another college sports championship game in Vegas! Maybe volleyball should think about that.

Way to go Ducks! Such a fun match to watch. A slow start, as always, especially at home. Last night’s atmosphere at MKA was pretty quiet and the crowd was small, compared to Thursday night’s match (and especially compared to last years’ 1st and 2nd round!). Lots of people home watching the football team lose. But Morgan Lewis during playoffs has been so amazing - I loved it when she rotated back in and I knew she was going to get fed. And HANNAH PUKIS - she is so fun and special to watch. Her setting is amazing and there were a couple of times on defense she came flying out of nowhere to save a ball.
Hawai’i targeted Gabby on serve receive the whole night even before she was injured. I was really worried when she got injured and wondered if she’d be able to finish. They first taped her ankle during a challenge review, then I think it was too tight and they retaped it during a timeout, then put a bulky brace over it. (Ice pack brace, do they make those?) You could tell she was hurting, she was barely transitioning to hit and adjusted her serve jump also. But she hung in there; I’m glad ducks won in 3 so she could get off the court and off her ankle! Fingers crossed she’ll be ok for Thursday.
I was bummed we didn’t get to see more of a battle between Amber and Kara, but that’s what happens when passing isn’t stellar for both teams. Amber got a couple of beautiful kills, which were so fun to see.
Hawai’i fans - were all the players playing the ones who have been playing most of the season? I saw a few not dressed/injured on the bench and wondered if they are usually in the rotations.
